STOP THE PRESSES!!!
Okay, so it's an odd title for the blogosphere, but I am very excited here. Today, my local paper—a paper which endorsed Bush not once but twice—ran a very conciliatory editorial about Hillary’s concession, in which the editor essentially endorsed Obama through a very concise comparison with McCain in terms of policies on Iraq, the economy, and health care. Oh, Day of JOY! (The paper is actually called “The Day.”)

This post had four more paragraphs, none of which showed up here. It's too late for me to re-type the whole damned thing, and it's too bad I wasted my time.

Post Script: If anyone can tell me either (or both) how to prevent posts from being lopped off after the first paragraph or (and) where to direct a complaint, I would be very appreciative.
My original post was proposing a letters-to-the-editor writing campaign. Perhaps I should just stick with print.

There were also five very interesting letters to the editor: two very respectful, thoughtful, and concise replies to a GOPer who had previously written telling Hillary supporters to vote for McCain; one declaring that Obama should not be penalized for the words of his former pastor, which defended both Wright and Obama; one bemoaning the myriad ways in which our country suffers because the GOP is beholden to oil and corporate interests; and one detailing how oil interests have squashed fuel efficient technology.
So, my proposal is that the TPM community should put our brilliance into print where it can reach a broader and more diverse (think "swing voter")population. I was especially impressed with the arguments aimed at Hillary supporters, and plan to write a reply thanking the authors and supporting and expanding on their statements.
As I said, there has been plenty of press on the other side, and there are an awful lot of smart, articulate people here, so...

I did not follow the primary, except as it was unavoidable. (I voted, but that's besdie the point.) I am prepared to follow the general.
I preferred Hillary from the outset over all other candidates -- though I was heartened and impressed by the Democrtic field of candidates: all worthy, and all strong contenders -- because I saw her as most experienced, and "seasoned," and therefore qualified.
However, moreso, I was "any Democrat will do" in view of what Republicans have done to the country -- and the rule of law -- beginning with Nixon.
Now that the primary is done, I watched Obama's victory speech, and found it excellent, and naturally "inclusive" -- nothing manufactured about it. A good man, and exceedingly intelligent (which I'd noted when he gave his exhilarating keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic Convention).
I also watched Hillary's concession/endorsement of Obama. Another excellent speech, by a person unfairly smeared for decades.
So that being done, let's focus on the general. Let's get Obama elected president.
