Nothing to See Here, Folks...
I've no idea what I'm doing here. Please avert your eyes while I figure this out.
And this?
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zI1NKLmfP3w&hl=en"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zI1NKLmfP3w&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
But, will it work?

the answer would be no.

Sometimes reading is fundamental.
But why not give you a Recommend! for trying?
Personally, I love the experiementation. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. And again. And once more with feeling this time...
;)

The horror. Please no recommends. Then everyone will know I never read the details and my ineptitude will be on full display. I've even accepted the terms of software before without really reading them.

You're not alone... we all just clicked the box without reading...
You know the old saying, "As a last resort, read the directions."
Been there, done that.
Smiling with you...

Agree! Recommended! :-D
Hey, drifter. Here's something that trips up even the long-timers here at TPM:
When you're posting
on your blog, you use the instructions Jade gave you--highlight text, then click the box. However, when commenting on a blog post thread, you do your own html tagging.
Don't be self-conscious. There are folks here at all levels of html skill. We're not judgmental about formatting--only about intellectual honesty!
Looking forward to your posts!

and the inconsistency between posting and commenting gets everybody kerfluffled.
I try to remember if I'm seeing buttons, use them. No buttons, code.
Thanks for pointing out that distinction LJ!

Rec list? What happens there?
I have a feeling I won't like it.

And even when you think things should work -- like say adding an image for your avatar -- you find it doesn't work like you'd expect.

This reminds me of that really awesome guy who popped in here one night and posted a really oddly named blog and all of us adored his sense of humor.
Deja vu, I guess.
Carry on.
And Jade, I thank you for the Smedley/Muttley correction and I love your avatar.

Lis, I was thinking the same thing! (But I think we were just talking about it yesterday too.)
But welcome Drifter. I hope you stick around.
And I never read the terms of service either.

TERMS? They got terms? Oh shit.
June 18, 2008 9:29 PM | Reply | Permalink
'K Lis....
You got Deja Vu.... Carry On.... Lessee how many more CSNY song titles you can do off the top of your head. No cheating.
I saw that.

WTF does CSNY mean?
And...do we really have terms here? I didn't know that either, when I joined. I've probably broken at least 20 rules by now.
Oh well.

Sorry. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. You know.... Woodstock... Teach Your Children.... Ohio....
Jeez. I'm 49 and past my "Sell By." I need a drink.

Well if it makes you feel better, I got your comment. I saw a Guinevere reference on another thread...was it from Lis? Check Hilary's post about le Fay.
Lis is only a year younger than I am. She should know who CSNY is!!
Lis, you should know at least one of these: "Our House" (...is a very, very, very fine house), "Southern Cross," "Wasted on the Way," "Just a Song Before I Go" (...traveling twice the speed of sound, it's easy to get burned)

By the way, I've seen CSNY live about a half dozen times, I think. Always among the best live shows I've ever seen.
I saw them in Seattle in 2007. They are as energetic and inspiring as they were the first time I saw them--nearly 25 years ago.

I'm overjoyed that this has come to be a place to converse but mortified that I have likely stolen a spot on the vaunted rec list from a much more deserving poster.
Suite Judy Blue Eyes?
But the real question is, was CSN as good as CSNY?
You know they stopped those crazy bastards at Woodstock from rioting in the rain?
June 18, 2008 10:59 PM | Reply | Permalink
Anh! Don't worry about it! Most folks here are laid back. We'll consider this a "welcome, drifter" thread. Rec spots have gone to much less worthy purposes. Trust me.
Daylight Again.
Trick question. Singly or in any combination, David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, and Neil Young are superior musicians and composers who are in a class all their own.

Great try Drifter. This is a WONDERFUL recommend. We all know how difficult it can be to post here - blog or comment. A lot of us have even experienced the damnable double post. What I like about your post is another reminder to the TPM makers how difficult and discouraging it can be. You are recommended for your attempt.
I never saw CSNY but love them Teach your Children is so current don't you think?
June 18, 2008 11:24 PM | Reply | Permalink
I even ended up witha triple posted coment one time.
June 19, 2008 4:46 PM | Reply | Permalink
Well thanks folks. I guess you make a few friends even when you do it in the most clumsily possible way!
Teach your Children. Great song. My ma emails me the lyrics all the time.
Ok, so while we're at it then, new question - CSNY or Lynyrd Skynyrd?
June 18, 2008 11:36 PM | Reply | Permalink
Seriously? Definitely CSNY. Skynyrd may sport monster chops on their instruments, but they're not in the same league as CSNY in song composition. CSNY's compositions and vocal harmonies are products of genius.
IMHO! ;-)

Adore CSNY, and all of 'em individually. Skynyrd too.
But Neil? Neil Young is 2nd only to the Bobster as a songwriter. (and weird guy.) He's been cranking for 40 years, never stopped. Buffalo Springfield, CSNY, his own stuff, hell - Sweet Home Alabama was a response TO him, 'Rockin' In The Free World', the godfather of Kurt/Pearl Jam & Grunge, and he's still cranking. Of course... up here, here IS kinda God.
Here's Neil & CSNY. 2 songs - 2 written in one day, with a 103 fever.

I like a few CSNY tunes, but Young is someone who I appreciate as a songwriter and influence to others but just can't listen to. "Old Man" and "Cinnamon Girl" probably the exceptions. His rock is somehow offputting, and listening to his Harvest/acousticy stuff just makes me want to put on some Nick Drake.
Can't stand Skynyrd, though. I'm missing the southern rock gene.

Meh. It's no Dear Chairman Dean. That was a classic.
But welcome, Drifter. I'm glad that you're a good sport.

No way Genghis. Frank Mullen wins hands down. ;)
June 19, 2008 1:45 PM | Reply | Permalink
Frank Mullen's post was also a classic but different, I think, in that his writing was very clever and self-conscious, almost as if he expected the attention. His post lacked the urgent, earnest frustration that made DCD so compelling, though Frank himself was hilarious.
In any case, I'm certainly disappointed that Frank hasn't followed up with his promised contributions.

Dang! I totally missed both of those.
I hate when I miss the fun parties...

Point taken. As long as both make it onto the classic list, I'm happy.

What if someone gets more recommends than one that is already on there though? And when will they take this off? I thought for sure it'd be gone by now.
