Plus, I was listening to Ed Vedder's "Love, Reign O'er Me" on my iPod.

Eddie Vetter? In my mind I am hearing the Who. Wait... Wait... Nope, no doubt about it, that's Roger Daltrey. And Pete T. on guitar, no doubt about it.
Did Eddie do a cover? If so, I gott a hear it. Since I first heard Eddie's cover of "Hide Your Love Away" he and John Lennon trade lines in my head; sometimes words.
But lately I am mostly hearing James Taylor in my head. Yeah, I know it is a bit pugnacious. But it really psychs me up to finally have a candidate that is REALLY ready to go toe-to-toe with the smear merchants.

Yeah, I was kinda wondering if Eddie V. had covered "Reign O'er Me", too.
And as to "Hide Your Love Away," bunches have done that, no?
Even Gary Lewis and the Playboys???

I don't need Country & Western salvation, TYVM.
I prefer my absolution from the likes of Grace Slick.

I've never felt this way before
I have seen so many islands
(I'm posting by hand here....)
I never felt this way before
In this song, here, I'll describe him:
The chariots rise
so high in the sky
What a fool am I
to fall so in love
What a wonderful thing
it seems to be
cuz I love him

If you can't appreciate that he's poking his thumb in the eye of the whole concept, then, I can't help you.
If it's just a problem with the genre, I'd suggest you open up a bit. There's a lot of very good alternative country music out there.
Give the Drive-By Truckers a listen. Or Cross Canadian Ragweed. Or try more Paul Thorn.
I'm a dyed-in-the-wool rocker. But these artists definitely have something to say!

When they kick out your front door
How you gonna come?
With your hands on your head?
Or on the trigger of your gun?
When the law break in
How you gonna go?
Shot down on the pavement
or waiting on death row?
You can crush us
you can bruise us
But you have to answer to
OH-oh-ohhha ah oh
The guns of Brixton!!!!

BTW, for what it's worth....I think Paul Simonon is the sexiest bass player -- and painter-- and person -- on this earth.
I now go to bed.

Speaking of love and liberalism, anyone who hasn't seen WALL-E yet needs to go catch it.
I unexpectedly blubbered my fool head off. Plus, it washed the foul aftertaste of "Wanted" out of my head.

Lis,
I was out climbing a tree this morning and missed this. Now, normally I'd just comment on how much I appreciate your sentiments, but since I've been mentioned, I want to acknowledge the honor, say that I will not complain about it like Billy G did, and thank you for being awesome.
Of course, you didn't mention impeachment, so I have to give you shit about that.
I've never been convinced that I won't be investigated for what I say here or all over the place, generally. I just figured long ago that if I didn't say what I thought, I'd die inside, and if I got pushed against a wall and shot, I'd die like so many others who believed in freedom over tyranny - truth over propaganda - so I'd be in good company. In these times, that latter possibility has generally seemed real enough to me.
What I luv most, though, is the luv. You're a regular liberated ex-repub flower child agitator. Thanks.
