Lieberman Must Go!
Robert Greenwald's got himself a fun new project. Lieberman Must Go:
Joe Lieberman is a war hawk, plain and simple. He staunchly supports George Bush's War in Iraq and John McCain's plan to stay in Iraq for 100 years. But Lieberman's new alliance with the Republican Party runs even deeper. He has endorsed and stumped for McCain, wants to be the star of the Republican National Convention, and has even served on a 527 group that smeared Barack Obama with a nasty attack ad.Nothing much to add to it except to say, I''m so glad someone's finally turning this into a mission!! It's about time.
And yet Lieberman still holds a top rank within the Senate Democratic Caucus as chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The Senate Democratic Steering Committee needs to know just how much of a conflict of interest this is. That's why we created Lieberman Must Go.
Here's what you can do: Sign our petition today and tell the Senate Democratic Steering Committee to strip Lieberman of his leadership role in Congress. Then, e-mail this video to everyone you know.

Che-yeah.
Thanks for the links. I've signed, but your eloquent post seems worthy of sending to all my fellow Connecticut residents.
The only thing that gives me pause is, for all that I hate LIEberman, it is true that he caucuses with Dems in social issues, and there is pressing business in that area. Keep in mind, stripping him of his chairs and perks might make him go rabidly right. If we could recall him we would. We do, however have a Repub Governor, and as well as she governs, (major improvement over rampant corruption), she won't choose a Dem to replace him. Thems the sad facts. As soon as the Dems get a solid Dem, filibuster-proof majority, he's gone.

I expect we'll have one come January.

Lieberman's days are numbered. They need his vote to maintain their narrow majority, but that won't be true in the next Congress. President Obama should give him a Cabinet post (DHS would be peachy) so they can replace him with a real Democrat.

With Franken seemingly unable to make any headway in the MN Senate race, we have to face an ugly reality:
The Dems might only get to 59 + Lieberman. I'm afraid this means that Reid & Co. will continue to coddle Joe.

59 + Lieberman = 59
The only reason they need Lieberman is to keep control of the Senate majority for purposes of electing the Majority Leader and Committee Chairmen. Otherwise it's 50-50 and Cheney breaks the tie.
