Larry Johnson's "Whitey" Hoax Blown Wide Open

Must read by The Termite:

Conservative NRO blogger Jim Geraghty asks why the apocryphal Whitey Tape bears such an astonishing resemblance to a plot point in the 2006 political thriller novel The Power Broker, by Stephen Frey:

[skip]

If there was any lingering doubt as to whether this tape actually existed, this should drive a stake right through its heart. Not only was this a hoax; it was a poorly conceived hoax, designed by people with the brains of a garden slug and the morals of a nose hair trimmer.

Larry Johnson is a boil on the ass of the body politic. May he rot.
(my emphasis)

Love that last line.

All I can say is, get thee to a therapist, Larry Johnson.  You are ill.

Larry John is what happens when racism consumes a person.

Way too scoop the TPM crew.

I think I would take offense - if I were a nose trimmer.

Forgot.... or a slug.

Thanks for passing this along. Johnson is a fraud who has parlayed a very thin national security resume into an apparently lucrative consulting business. Though probably increasingly less lucrative with each of his hair-brained stunts.

At the moment he web site is not accessible.

It stands to reason that the tape does not exist.
1. If HRC had it, it would have already been released.

2. If the Rs had it, it would have already been released, if it is true that they would rather face HRC than BHO.

This thing is disgusting. Am I preparing myself to see much more of it in the coming months. Uggghhh!

*And I'm* (damn!)

Who are Larry Johnson's consulting clients? It's time to start putting pressure on them. Let LJ feel it in the pocketbook a bit.

Yeah, when even the guys over at NRO start saying there's nothing there, you know it's bad.

Mind you, this won't stop the Hillaryis44 folks and the freepers from salivating over this non-existent thing for months.

Ben Smith links to this observation on various attacks on Democratic wives:

"This is the '08 version of a really weird conservative urban legend that pops up every four years, The names change, but the basics remain the same: 1) It always involves the wife of the Democratic presidential candidate; 2) It always portrays the wife -- not the candidate -- committing some anti-American, unpatriotic act."

The first place I ever heard this sort of rumor was over on Taylor Marsh ... the day before they all went extra-psycho and got that superdelegate email list.

One poster said they had a video (it was of Obama himself, not Michelle) but was waiting to release it for "just the right moment". There was a hysterical flurry of folks posting their email addresses begging for a personal copy: "I just want to see it ... I PROMISE I won't release until you are ready!!!" was like every third post.

I just figured it was someone screwing with them, it was pretty damn funny.

Okay, I'll bite. Aside from a boil on the ass of the body politic, who is Larry Johnson? Seriously - I have no idea who he is, or why anybody is treating him as a source of news. Google wasn't much help, unless he's the core of the puma faction. I'm pretty sure you're not talking about the basketball player.

http://noquarterusa.net/

Frighteningly, he used to post here quite often.

Okay, I'm still not clear on why anyone would view him as news resource. Is he a lobbyist or involved in a campaign? Or just a talking head/pundit?

Why did you link?! YUK. That the epitome of feed a troll.

ARGH.

;-)

Ex-CIA(?),racist, conspiracy theorist extraordinaire & rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth Clinton supporter.

He's a joke on the blogs. He's been banned by most of them. Runs his own which I won't link too that have the craziest of the crazies hanging on his every hate-filled word.

I think that about covers it.

Ah - that's what I was wondering. Pundit. Thanks! BTW, hrebendorf, you're right about the haircut - it sets the standard!

Go to Huffington Post and search for Larry Johnson and you'll be presented a list of his delusional ranting.

He was a prominent critic of the Cheney administration in the wake of its outing of Valarie Plame.

Here's a flavor from last December:

I favor giving Hillary more coverage at No Quarter [Johnson's blog] for a very simple reason -- no other candidate for president in my memory has been subjected to as many vile, baseless attacks as this good woman. You don't have to be a rightwing nut to know or believe some of this garbage. According to these critics Hillary is a murderer, a practicing lesbian who is getting it on with her Saudi chief of staff, a swindler, a cheat, and a cover-up artist. Oh yeah, her and Bill employ, so we are told, their own hit squad who run around silencing critics.

What I find amazing is how inept that Clinton "hit" squad is? If they were worth a damn (or REAL) then critics like this bozo in Texas, Robert Morrow, would be a worm buffet by now (I will not link to anything written by Morrow). Ain't it amazing that Bill and Hill are known to kill their opponents and yet so many opponents and critics are still walking around unscathed?

The evil witch, bitch caricature of Hillary is a lie readily embraced by many in America. But it is not the Hillary I have met. I am not a good friend nor a close advisor. And I am not lobbying for a slot in a Clinton administration. I'm not ready for a pay cut and I like to sleep until 9 a.m. But I have been in her office twice and briefed her on issues concerning terrorism and Iraq. If you had asked me before my first visit in 2005 if she could be president I would have said, "There are two ways -- no way and no way in hell." Sadly, much of my initial opinion about Senator Clinton was based on the filth I had heard about her lack of character and private behavior.

I still must insist that Larry has the very finest child molester haircut on the planet.

I haven't heard Fox apologize on air yet. Nor have I heard Hannity eat his ... well, I'll be nice. Here we have another case of a piece of news designed to drive supers to Hillary. The thing she was hanging on for. And not only is it debunked, but it's a book plot! Only three of five stars, no less! Maybe it's the thing that makes real reporters burn some shoe leather, rather than having fake ones with unscuffed Manolos just spreading rumors.

Here's an interesting question: Are we absolutely positive that Larry did, in fact, work for the CIA? From what I can tell he's a world-class con artist. Has anyone checked his references?

Well, I'm pretty sure that when he appeared, for a time, on all the networks and was introduced as a "former CIA analyst" (or something like that) the networks checked him out!

;-)

I'm sure if it was a lie, the CIA would have had something to say.do about it.
