Is Coppola working for McCain?

Don't know why it took me so long, but it's pretty obvious just where the McCain campaign turned for inspiration in creating their first general election commercial.

Obviously McCain's team ...

...is learning from the master:

Hey, boss!  I got an idea!  Sure, we've succeeded in making the Senator look sickly and pale, but not enough people think of him as scary and possibly mentally damaged!  Let's try something with the lighting here...

I really think some keys surrogates for Obama should come out strongly and challenge his suitably for the Presidency.

They can start off saying they respect his service in Vietnam - that there are a few initiatives he came up with in the past - but then be very blunt about massacring his temperament.

Contrast how marvellous Obama's temperament is under pressure with how McCain is the pits.

McCain tried to make a virtue of getting angry - there are things worth getting angry about. But there's all the difference in the world between righteous anger channelled with judgment and balanced temperament, and lack of control.

The issue that worries me with Obama is this sustained attempt now on the part of the GOP to characterise him as another Carter. It's a nasty one to combat without being insulting to a former President who's done so much good in the world since his tenure.

He doesn't need to "combat" it at all. It's ridiculous on its face, and only reinforces Obama's depiction of McCain as representing the tired politics of the past.

If they must respond (ie when some idiot reporter asks the question) they can gently remind Senator McCain that it's 2008, and attacks on Jimmy Carter ceased to be relevant 7 elections ago. "If Senator McCain wants to refight generation-old battles, he's welcome to, but we chose to focus on renewing the American dream for our children and grandchildren..." etc etc

God, Brando was fucking awsome.

Anyways, yeah, I see the resemblences.

The Master? Of what?

FFC hasn't made an interesting movie in 30 years.

Saw that ad on MSNBC today. It looked better (not as dark) on a regular tv set.

But the substance is garbage. It's just stale fear card, fear card, fear card.

yeah, except Cheney is Kurtz, the Robert Duval character is much closer in character to McStain
