How I Could Accept Hillary Clinton as VP

avatar

The posture of Hillary Clinton and some of her surrogates, seem to indicate that Hillary Clinton wants the VP slot on a Barack Obama
ticket as a consolation prize.  However, a lot of us just don't see
Hillary as a good VP choice primarily because we think that her persona
is not in sync with that of Obama.  Much like Obama represents "change you can believe in", he also needs a VP that he can believe in.

Hillary
has shown that she is not quite there.  For starters, she could eat a
little bit of humble pie.  After being designated as the inevitable
Democratic nominee, I can understand that for her it must be extremely
difficult to except that in 2008, that will not be a reality. Inspite
of the position which Hillary now finds herself, contrary to the
demands of some of her rabid supporters, she must acknowledge that
picking the VP will be the responsibility of Barack Obama. It can't be extorted.

When Obama wins the nomination, I think that Hillary should go to him in private and apologize
for the divisive campaign she ran that all too often appealed to the
worst traits in people instead of their best attributes.  She should
tell Obama that he ran an
extremely well executed campaign and mean it.  She should admit that
both she and Bill underestimated how tough a candidate that Obama would be.  There is no denying that Obama beat the best and that is a feat that should be recognized.

If Hillary can do those things, then if Obama chooses her, I can enthusiatically embrace a 2008 Democratic Presidential ticket of Obama/Clinton.
If Hillary can humbly do those things, then she will have shown us that
she can change and be a part of change that we can believe in.

At
a compassionate moment, today I decided that having Hillary on the
ticket might be something that I can live with.  I even felt that Bill
Clinton didn't deserve the New Yorker article which if for no other
reason, was in bad taste because of its timing.  As a former ardent
Clinton supporter, it may be easier for me to accept that Hillary can
find redemption.  But as I moved away from Clinton, I was drawn to
Obama when I actually started to listen
to the his words and like countless others, believed him when he said
with passion that he wanted to dissolve the divisions in America that
have plaqued our society.

I know that it will be very
difficult for a lot of my fellow Obama supporters to agree with me.
However, picking Hillary doesn't take Obama off message.  It actually
would put his message into action in a very bold way and be an example
of his willingness to work to alleviate divisions. Nevertheless,
picking a VP will be the sole responsibility of Barack Obama.  So I in
no way am advocating that Hillary be offered the job.  However, unlike
yesterday, today I find Hillary to be more acceptable.

The New Yorker... most of the media focused on the womanising aspect of his cronies, Air Fuck One etc. The far more damaging stuff was the deals he's enabled. It concerns me that too many people will be focusing on how Obama can placate alienated women, forgetting how at the moment this is real heat of the campaign stuff. They have till November to cool down and be confronted with the actuality of what John McCain would mean. Right wing judges. Roe-v-Wade.

I hope he and his advisers aren't forgetting what incredible negatives she'll bring with her. Many of the Republicans and independents who he could pull in wouldn't vote for a ticket that had her on it. Clinton on the ticket would energise the conservative Republican base in a way that McCain still hasn't been able to do.

I hope everyone won't forget that. He can help pay off her debt, give her a senior cabinet post.

My personal preference is Mark Warner of Virginia.

Hillary's a bit uppity now, isn't she.

Well, from what I hear, so is Michelle Obama.

With those big ears of yours, surely you know she's been downity - how tough it's been, the struggle, being scared. Not uppity in the slightest. Now you just move along before someone confuses you with Br'er Rabbit and tosses you in a briar patch.

Hillary doesn't need to do that privately to Obama. Unlike many Obama supporters Obama knows exactly what he did to win and knows it was just as underhanded and divisive as the things Hillary did. If she gets the vp nod it will be because 2 pragmatic politicians sat down and both agreed it was their best chance to win the presidency. Obama this year and Hillary in 8 years.

Get real. He responded when the mud was thrown. Certainly nothing more, nothing less.

fuck off. I don't need anyone telling me to get real. I've been reading the nonsense most of the Obama supporters have posted on this site and its clear most of them have not been paying much attention to what's been happening. Frankly there's very few obama supporters here I have any respect for.

Divorce Bill - there is no way the White House will be big enough for both Barack and Bill and Bill will do whatever he can to wrest power for Hillary. Hillary on her own won't have nearly the influence.

I just want to let everybody know, for historical reference, that June 3 was the day the week-long Zoot Suit Riots began, when a mob of 60 from the Los Angeles Naval Reserve Armory beat up everyone perceived to be Hispanic.

I just automatically think of June 3 as Zoot Suit Riot Day, in case that ever pops up in conversation and it seems inexplicable or inappropriate to you.

That's just how I remember it's June 3.

So don't freak out or make a big deal out of it if I bring it up.

Maybe, maybe not.

to get Hillary's support, Obama could offer her a seat on the Supreme Court!

for those Hil. supporters who say they will support McCain- think of Roe v Wade.
if McCain wins, it will be goodbye to legal abortions in the USA.

for Obama's VP- i suggest Mayor Bloomberg!.
