Do you recommend your own posts?

avatar

Okay, be honest now...

Do you recommend your own posts?

Comments (20)

Yes. But hey, why should I expect you to read something I wouldn't recommend?

avatar

Only when I write something I agree with.

avatar

Of course! Besides 4 out of 5 dentists who chew gum recommend chewing Trident.

And I just gave you a Recommend! so it wouldn't look like you were the only one who recommended your post. (Like voting for yourself... )

Yes. Why wouldn't one do so?

avatar

Okay then, in keeping with the enthusiasm everyone's showing for recommending their own posts, I just rec'd this one. ;)

I don't know - I wasn't sure if it was seen as kind of a pathetic form of self-boosterism or something.

I choose to exercise my fifth amendment right against self-incrimination.

No because I figure that what I have posted should stand or fall on it's own merits. What is the point of recommending one's own post. If others do not recommend it, it is going to rapidly fade from sight anyway.

A self recommendation is of no value.

Only if it is good ;-)

Someone has to :P

Your post has two lines and it has gotten more recs than anything I've ever written, lol.

Yup. Sure do.

I rock. (snicker)

(That is totally a joke...don't crucify me for it!)

Not if I'm just writing an opinion. If I'm recommending something that someone else has said or a videoclip - stuff that I'd love to see get traction on the net - I do.

avatar

Who doesn't? And I also leave the seat up. Who doesn't?

Do people click the Election Central checkbox for posts that have nothing to do with election politics?

avatar

Some noobs who usually post about election stuff and could have gotten into the bad habit of thoughtlessly checking the Election Central box whenever they post might. Maybe.

(Sorry! I'll try to be more careful from now on!)

Oh, crap, I've been guilty of this as well.

I hate to excuse my behavior with the Scooby snack defense, but isn't there just a bit of Pavlovian conditioning involved here?

I mean, the culture of aptitude tests and online polls being what it is, whenever I'm presented with multiple empty checkboxes, I click on one.

Nevermind the friggin' "optional" that I just went back and verified is sittin' right there above the checkboxes.

You've just boosted my self-awareness. Thanks.

And, sadly enough, I'm serious.

Yes, I do, but I also recommend others, including yours. So stay happy, haha! =D

More to the point.... are you one of the 13 who have rec'd this post?

Great question, lol.

avatar

Yeah, I did. :O (I said so above, actually). But only after a few people posting said THEY did, which I took as a go-ahead.

avatar

Yes, I also recommend Obama :)
