Cheryl Crist
Before I launch into this, please allow a quick shout-out to Ben Hocking and m in athens for their contributions to my previous thread re Regina Thomas. They brought their homework (in Ben's case) and local insight (in m's case) to the discussion of Regina's candidacy. A tip o' the ol' fedora to the both of 'em.
A h/t to OpenLeft as well. It was this OL post that brought Regina Thomas to my attention, and then this OL Quick Hit that introduced me to Cheryl Christ.
Per Populista's Quick Hit:
Pissed? We still can take down two Bush Dogs
If you want to do something instead of just ranting, there are still two Bush Dogs that face primaries.
John Barrow will face a primary from State Senator Regina Thomas on July 15th.
Donate now to Regina Thomas for Congress
Brian Baird who is not only a Bush Dog but was the one who claimed the surge was working and undermined efforts to end the war last summer will face a challenge from activist Cheryl Crist.
Donate now to Cheryl Crist for Congress
Time for action!
ActBlue!
And, actually, you know, before I launch and start opinin' on Cheryl Christ's candidacy, I'm gonna first ask for opinions on WA-3. Thoughts? Because, this time around, I think I'm gonna experiment with waitin' for yours before weighin' in with mine.
In the meantime, a couple more links before gettin' the party started:

Not an opinion, merely an aside - this is me passin' the Pepto, hopin' for more better democrats to rescue me from my latest bout of acid reflux. Not that I didn't enjoy digestin' all the posts and comments here about you-know-what, just sayin'.

Nothing against your style or anything, but a single quote takes exactly as much effort as the letter g. Just sayin'. (Get it?) Jokin', dude.

Dude, I don't know what's more embarrassing: your comment or the fact that I've now responded to it. In any case, I take it you didn't bother to read further down. Some real people showed up, and in doing so, confirmed my suspicion that we're under-utilizing this TPMCafé space ("we" meaning those of us regulars who hang out here, aren't batshit insane, and would like to see more and better Dems elected in November).

Just for the record, this post has nothing to do with Baird's 'aye' on H.R. 6304.

Wow, China Blanco, you're hot on her trail. As I type this I sit next to a gigantic Crist for Congress sign in my front window. I am in the third Distric. Crist is awesome, and takes my money on a monthly basis. She came to our county caucus and brought down the house. Then Baird walked in and brought down the mood. I guess he didn't like his reception because he didn't even bother to show up to his own Congressional district convention. Crist was there, Baird was busy.
Baird is an absolute douche bag. It's okay to say it. He even voted to intervene in Terry Schiavo, to say nothing of the surge. I detest this man. If you all have extra cash, please send it to Cheryl. She needs it. She is getting no support from the local Dem infrastructure. They are following Baird like sheep.

And when you're done sending money to Crist, send some to Darcy Burner!!

I'm hopin' Cheryl might drop by sometime in the next 24 hours and say hello and let us know how things are goin'.
Thanks again for showin' up here. Did you remember to rec this post? If you're a Crist supporter, please do.

Darcy Burner! Darcy Burner! Darcy Burner! Cheryl Crist too of course.
Yes. Darcy is running agaist a true GOP horse's ass. There is a lovely HuffPo post about them and him running a sexist campaign against Burner and joking about Clinton's death.

Darcy lost to this asshat last time, he's gotta go so if anyone can contribute to Darcy it would be a great step towards removing one of Bush's footsoldiers.

I mean, click on Darcy's ActBlue page at:

and then click on Cheryl's ActBlue page at:
http://www.actblue.com/entity/fundraisers/18925
and it becomes painfully obvious that we can get much more done for Cheryl than we've gotten done so far ...

Hey, just got an email from Cheryl!
She was very kind. Especially when it came to the part about letting me know that - next time - if I'm planning on inviting her to join us here, I might want to provide her with more than 10 minutes advance notice.
In other words, totally gracious. So gracious, in fact, that it's safe to say the preceding paragraph is just me lookin' to create a little drama. Truth be told, in response to my short notice, she simply indicated that she'd check in asap and appreciated the support.

Cheryl rocks. I am working on a letter to the editor of my paper in the next few days. Sorry Cheryl, if you're reading this, for the poor language I used up above. You are above this sort of thing I suspect, but alas, I am not.

Hello, everyone! I am Cheryl Crist's campaign manager and I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support. We can feel that every day our campaign's momentum is building. Baird's vote on the FISA bill gave us a big boost over the weekend. We just attended the Clark County Democrats' Jefferson Jackson Dinner today, and the support for Cheryl was great!
Please continue to send what money you can. We have a relatively large district, geographically speaking, and with the high cost of gas it really ads up when going to events in every county. With your help, we can get some ads on the air, too!
If you live in the 3rd District, please join us in sign-waving and writing letters to the editor. We're also doing phone banking, tabling at farmers' markets and waving on street corners. There are lots of opportunities to contribute!
Thank you again, and keep spreading the word. We WILL replace a certain 'Bush Dog Democrat' this fall!
Best regards,
Kayla Saville

Thanks, Chino Blanco, for highlighting Cheryl Crist's run. We will have good majorities in both houses of Congress so the entire story now is electing better Democrats. That means using primary challenges to chase Bush Dogs out of blue or purple districts.
WA-03 is a perfect opportunity because Baird is on the OpenLeft Bush-Dog List; Baird continues to be bad on the War, the Constitution, and more; with Cheryl Crist we have a died-in-the-wool progressive; and WA-03 is a purple district that seldom elects Republicans.
There's really no use complaining about blue dogs in Democratic districts. It's better to just replace them. People should send Cheryl $5, or, even better, contact her campaign and ask what they need. Maybe attend an event, hold a sign, write a letter to the newspaper. Or at least send the $5!
