Canada apologizes to it's Native population
Canada apologizes to its' Native population for removing the children from their homes. As I listened to the apology on C-SPAN, I wondered how an apology from the American government would sound to Native Americans?

I have no idea if my recommendation will help or hurt this post, but I recommendation. If I were a Native American instead of blue guy it wouldn't mean anything to me at all. The original holocaust can't be forgiven.

Rec'd as well.
I always wonder about this in reading about reparations and apologies for this, or slavery, or the Japanese internment camps, or the Holocaust.
Sometimes it seems so small. Well, we're sorry, but here's 10 grand! Sorry we committed atrocities on your family! All's well that ends well, right?
And then would people expect all to be forgiven?

An interesting point, Hilary. I would imagine that the same people who are opponents of reparations of any kind would take that view. A difficult mindset to get into. Here are some essays from an opponent of reparations.

Right. Yeah, that's kind of what I meant. I didn't know if my first comment sounded weird or not. I just wonder how people like Pat Buchanan would react. I wonder if it would make it then somehow harder to address prejudices.
