California Jobs from EADS Tanker contract
I heard a radio ad selling the notion that the tanker contract will bring 7500 jobs and $400,000,000 to the California economy and 49,000 jobs nationwide. Hmm??? For $25/hour skilled labor, thats about $75/hour out the door with overhead and all. So, 400 million divided by 75 equals 5.333 million man hours. There's about 2000 hours in a man year ( 40 hours a week x 50 weeks). So 5.33 million hours divided by 2000 equals 2666 man years or to put another way 7500 jobs lasting about 0.355 years or 18.5 weeks. This assumes none of the 400 million is for parts.
