Thursday June 19 2008

Campaigning rockers Bono
and Bob Geldof
challenged French
President Nicolas Sarkozy
yesterday to increase aid to Africa,
saying France was failing to
live up to commitments it made at a G8
summit in 2005.

The U2 frontman and the former Boomtown
Rats
singer, who played an active role in the Live 8 concerts in support
of aid and debt relief ahead of the summit, said failure by G8 leaders to
keep their promises to the world's poorest was "a disgrace".

yet both bono and geldof have consistently refused to address legitimate concerns about the funds raised by both live aid and live 8, not being used to provide the promised aid to africa, rather have been funnelled into their pockets. the last statement issued by geldof on the subject was something to the effect that live 8 wasn't supposed to provide aid to africa, rather "raise awareness". there's a reason both are considered cankers on the a$$ of ireland.

in ireland, bono especially is not taken seriously. while he stamped his feet, demanding that everyone (especially the poor) pay more in tax to increase aid to africa, he hid his tremendous wealth away in the netherlands in funds that protect him from any taxation.

bono is an admirer of steve forbes, and is a major investor in forbes' corporation. he owns castles and mansions and property in new york, yet he doesn't contribute any of his wealth to his scheme.

he was a big investor, with bill gates in an unproven aids vaccine, and both used their influence with african governments into geting permission so that vaccine would be tested on poor africans. a good many of which were prostitutes who were told to consider themselves aids/hiv free, and to go about their business. the result was that aids spread further amongst the johns, and through them to wives, lovers and children, and so on.

do you ever base your support on "activism" based on researching the organization or leadership, or do you just latch on to things like this because you are label obsessed?

Care to provide links to support what you are claiming. I dare you.

I happen to know a bit about this, and let me say that, pretending that everything you said is correct, you are clearly moving the goalposts. This article is about the French President and his policies, not about the purity of his critics. Imagine that Bono is Satan-- what relevance does that have to France's policies toward Africa? Let me answer for you: none.

what bit is that? the msm propaganda pushing their corporate profits from the scam? we aren't talking about a map here, where an inch equals 200 miles. get off your knees, neither bono nor geldof are activists for ending poverty.

do you ever read the guardian online? everything i've written is old news (google bono + forbes, liveaid money, etc... spend your online time researching constructively instead of blindly accepting lies) live aid raised a bit over 150 million, yet only 60 or so went to africa, and that went directly into the pockets of the ngo's. it was a scandal for years, buying weapons, limos and obscene luxuries for leaders of juntas in ethiopia, very little of it went into the bellies of famine victims.

live 8, of the proceeds 6.1 million into the pockets of the prince's trust, then geldof gets the whack on the shoulders with a ceremonial sword and becomes sir bob. ever wonder how geldof, whose music career hasn't done squat since the boomtown rats fell apart (they weren't that successful even in their heyday), has a two billion dollar palatial mansion in britain, and homes in the south of france, and how he affords the huge trust funds for his bimbo daughters?

live 8 was a marketing scam, bono and geldof raked it in on that. the merchandising alone has made them even richer. make poverty history, huh? not quite, unless you consider a couple of already affluent irish rockers victims of poverty, because they haven't done anything to help the poor in africa.

they have parleyed their influence with corrupt african government leaders into being a gateway for corporate investments, that pour more cash into their pockets.

you can't diss the fools who voted for bush for having their heads in the sand when you clearly are guilty of the same damn thing.
