Barack's Stunningly Perfect Running Mate
Retired Four Star Admiral William "Fox" Fallon.
He might know a thing or two about National Security.

While I understand where you're coming from, he's too old.
They need someone who can take the mantle when Obama leaves office.

He's about the same age as HRC. And remember, he didn't retire, he was fired by Bush.
Imagine McCain trying to question Falon's experience? A joke.
[Both McCain's father and grandfather retired from the Navy as four star Admirals, just like Falon.]
And there's also the bipartisan angle to play.

He's 3 years older than Hillary and she's already borderline for future elections. (Similarly, why do people bring up Pelosi & Boxer? To give McCain someone to relate to?). Also, I just can't understand why he should be a Democratic VP candidate - typically we separate military functions from government functions, we don't really need an arch-conservative to front the Democratic Party and we already had Wes Clark prove how terrible a military guy can be at campaigning.

Suggestions like Fallon show how desperate Obamanauts are about the upcoming CIC debate. It is incredible to me that in almost every area they are hoping Obama can associate himself with someone who can make up for his shortcomings. A general here, a statesman there, an effective Senator here and there. It's going to take a small army to fill Obama's gaps.

Come on. Qualified people shouldn't be discredited because some may perceive them as "filling a gap." Who would you propose his VP be, Billy? I know you don't want Hillary. Or Fallon. Or, I'm assuming any military person. So who is your suggestion?

Really Billy?
I am surprised at you. Tar much with the same brush.
One person suggests a name, and you rush in to cal people names, and declare that they all think alike.
How Turdblossomish of you. I knew that you were really a Republican when you played the Scoop Jackson card, way back when.
Feck off Grackle Bird.

Yes, Hillary would have picked someone wholly unqualified. That's how awesome she is!
Come on, Billy.

What crap you write, everybody tries to accentuate their ticket for any 'supposed weakness' that their candidate is 'supposed to have', doesn't mean that they have them, just means they'd like to lay the talk to rest.
Funny, with all his gaps and behind in money starting out, he didn't feel the pressure and fantasize sniper fire, did he? And if a president doesn't find people stronger as specialists in particular fields than he/she is (being a generalist) than I think we would have elected an idiot. Obama is a far cry from an idiot.

Desidero,
Three years older than HRC---OMG! Let's starting digging his grave.
Military men as presidents? Ridiculous, you say.
I say: Washington, US Grant, Eisenhower....Service to the country as a four star Admiral in the United States Navy should hardly be a disqualification to serve as VP.
And what specifically leads you to characterize Falon as an arch-conservative?

Fallon has never run for office before; now is not the time to start.
Moreover, given that he was fired by Bush, this would, IMO, only further politicize the military.

Off topic, but whenever I see your posts I picture your avatar speaking them in a very angry furrowed eyebrow tone. Always gives me great amusement. Carry on!

dijamo,
It's not as pretty as your avatar (is that you?), that's for sure.
It is a very recent NASA photo of the "red spot" on planet Jupiter...isn't it ominous and awesome?

Awesome and amazing avatar indeed. I would have guessed on the complete opposite side of the spectrum something from a microscope slide.
Much prettier than my avater, but thank you for the compliment. That is me but it's an old picture from way back in January when I was loking forward to a Hillary win. I need to update with a pouty picture :).

Fallon is a brilliant selection, but any military man as VP when we are trying to pull away from a militarist foreign policy sends the wrong signal. Obama should demonstrate that he intends to pull together a professional team by giving ideas about his key cabinet choices and getting them into the campaign. How about Fallon for Secretary of Defense? As for VP...Kucinich, to put some meat on the whole "change" thing.

I want a Democrat that has actually won at leat one state wide race in a larger state. That is one way to vet a person to see if they know how to campaign and win across a broad spectrum of the population.
No to beginners of all stripes, and to any one who has not won a big state.

FallonShalon. Where do people come up with these names. I don't want another old fart spouting off about America's Place in the World and How Best to be Secure. Certainly our beloved Barack has shortcomings but who doesn't. His main shortcoming (according to my bitter Hillary loving better half) is that he is a man. Come on folks let us go for broke with Kathleen Sebelius. Unbeatable!
