Articles of Impeachment
Dennis Kucinich brought articles of impeachment against George W. Bush today.
http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Kucinich_presents_Bush_impeachment_articles_0609.html
Why is no one talking about this yet? I am not hopeful that the attempt will be successful but if it gets a decent amount of support that will certainly change a lot of perceptions in the game right now. At the very least I expected to see the news on TPM.
Let's get excited!

To be clear: TPM users have been talking about it. I was writing about the silence from news sources. Neither the AP or Reuters had it in their feeds when I checked at the end of Kucinich's speech.

Combined with the news that McClellan is willing to testify before the House Judiciary Committee I'd say
THIS IS EXCELLENT NEWS!! FOR GEORGE W. BUSH!!!

We can't forget the testimony of our most honorable friend Karl Rove on 10 July, 2008 in front the House Judiciary Committee.

But wait ... if this works isn't Cheney the president? Well, I guess he sort of is anyhow so not much would be different.
This has got to be symbolic. Maybe it's retaliation for the GOP reading 500 pages of global warming into the record?

As I was watching C-SPAN, I believe I saw something flash across the screen that Kucinch also introduced Articles for Cheney last year which are still good.

No one is talking about it because it is irrelevant.
I would be pissed off if he were my Rep. I want my rep doing important things -- trying to impeach a president with 6 months left of his 2nd term is pointless and ties up the Congress from business it could be attending to.
Like dealing with an energy policy and putting in rail systems, for example.

I have no illusions that this has any chance of success. However, it makes me quite happy to have had a house rep read off all those charges in congress since they're true. The amount of time this stunt took away from other congressional "work" is minuscule and it made my day.

You just wanted the list read? Okay... for a second there I thought you were taking him seriously and wanted him to ensure that his list was followed through on.

I wouldn't be pissed if he was my representative in Congress. He may not succeed but it is the record. Someone said something about this administration's radical departure from the basic tenants of democracy.

Cool. Remember that when can't get enough water to drink, can't find a way to get from point A to point B, or a myriad of other life issues.
You'll be proud of that impotent "statement". Had he been doing this in 2002, I'd have felt differently... but now, it's too late and childish.

Fear ultimately doesn't persuade me.
In 2002, I remember the Republicans controlling the Presidency, the Senate and the House three branches of government.
I am be proud that someone actually knows and believes in the United States Constitution.

I see... so an effort that is futile because of a GOP controlled House is more futile than an effort that is futile because there are 6 months left in a president's term?

It was a completely stupid thing to do. It reminded me instantly of how the GOP used to go overboard on the Clintons.
The less media coverage it gets, the better.

Wow! Did you just equate the travesty of justice that is the Bush administration with Clinton getting a blow job?

THE NEXT STEP >> sign the anti Nancy Pelosi petition.
http://www.petitiononline.com/everyman/petition.html
You people who make "DemocRATic" party pronouncements don't seem to understand the severity of violating GENEVA conventions.
Impeachment must be pursued NOW, or foreign powers will come in and determine the US' future .. Anyone can decide that the US is a FAILED NATION who does not enforce the laws of GENEVA. REMEMBER NUREMBERG? Yes, we will see a Justice Trial - a huge one.
The NEXT STEP is not infantile whining but going to work signing the DUMP NANCY PELOSI AS HOUSESPEAKER petition.
Maybe you can live with YOUR conscience while good men sit in cells in Guantanamo Bay, Bagram and other black sites - having sat in solitary confinement for SIX YEARS after being tortured; I cannot not. Perhaps if you could not hear what Dennis was saying (did you listen) you should take the cotton out of your ears. OBAMA IS NO LEADER, he's Zbig's puppet and his association with REZKO should knock him out of the game anyway. McCain has the Abramoff affair (and not being a natural born US Citizen to deal with .. ) Ain't gonna be another DIRTY election .... ALL KINGS MUST GO; if you need a little "refresher course" read some Tom Paine and get some Common Sense !!
We the People are US Citizens! We all deserve better than THIS and so does the rest of the world.
As I type this I can hear the CRIES of the wives and children of the people suffering from the torture of their loved ones ..
If you want to see the videos of Kucinich's VIRTUOUS performance they are posted on
http://dandelionsalad.wordpress.com/2008/06/09/kucinich-introduces-bush-impeachment-resolution-video/
For the record here - when IMPEACHMENT articles are pursued, Nancy Pelosi would become "default" pResident .. instead a compromise will be reached to have a rePUG to take the reins .. People are singing all day long in Conyers' office ..

The short: Democracy without accountability to the people and the constitution isn't democracy. Avoid impeachment, and you will HAVE fascism, no waiting. Promise.
