You Hillary Supporters Should Be PROUD...

To which I can only add what SHOULD be the Obama Camp's Response:

BARACK OBAMA today announced his intention to run for the presidency of the United States as an Independent candidate......

How any rational Democrat can look themselves in the mirror while supporting this pathetic political pathenogen is beyond my ability to comprehend.
n is beyond my ability to comprehend.

Huffpost has become Obama central. Dean has said the Florida and Michigan delegates will be seated; will vote for the presidential nominee. The rules committee has to find a way to allow Florida and Michigan to participate. To most longtime Democrats, the Nuclear Option is to disenfranchise Florida and Michigan. And which candidate, which candidates ardent, cultlike supporters want to go nuclear?

We can't lose in Florida and Michigan and win the election in November. How could you possibly justify freezing the Democrats of Florida and Michigan out? Republican controlled legislatures created the primary dates, not the 3-4 million people who got up, put off jobs, family, leisure, etc. to go vote.

We could have fixed this already by having another primary in these states, but it was the Obama camp that refused to go along. They want to shut out two big states we must win--all of this to protect New Hampshire's state law that they must have the first primary in the nation. What if New Mexico (or some other state) also passed a law saying that New Mexico must have the first primary. Doesn't anyone see the ridiculousness of protecting New Hampshire at everyone else's expense?

Also, the blind, vituperative, hatefulness towards anything non-Obama is scaring those of us that haven't drunk the cool aid. There are some Clinton trolls, but no one calls your candiate, "a pathetic political pathenogen." Depending on how you count, a majority or a near majority of progressives support Clinton.

When we see unreasoned, hateful, spiteful, cultlike references to someone who 50% of us view as our champion, someone who for 25 years has fought for us, someone who knows the issues backwards and forwards, it hurts your candidate. And if you wonder why (see CBS poll post) 40% of the people who support Clinton say they won't vote for Obama, maybe the reason is looking you in the mirror.

Dear redstateleroy:
You guys have entered the Twilight Zone along with your candidate.

Why can't you just be honest and admit that you want HRC to win and you do not care what it takes to do that. Morality and Truth be damned.

Where was HRC's indignation when it would have mattered? The FACT is that all the candidates went along with the DNC's plan to punish the two states. If HRC really cared about their votes she could have said, "NO" this is not right and we need to reject this plan NOW! She was the presumptive nominee still at that time. She could have single-handedly forced the DNC to change its response to MI and FLA’s early primaries.

Have you read Terry McAuliffe’s threat in 2004 to disenfranchise states in a similar fashion? That would be the same Terry McAuliffe who now cries fowl because the anointed candidate did not plan on an honest charismatic PROGRESSIVE running and she thought she only needed to campaign until February. (http://www.politicalbase.com/profile/Mark%20Nickolas/blog/&blogId=1950)

You and your candidate’s deluded thinking are what have angered many of us. For heaven's sake, she was asked a question, which was essentially, "what would you do if Iran committed a war crime and a crime against humanity against Israel" and she responds by saying "we will retaliate by committing a [bigger] war crime and a [bigger] crime against humanity" and you guys just sit back and think that is ok. If you tried reading some international news you would find that she has been compared to Ahmadinejad around the world!

She runs an ad the eve of PA with OSMAMA BIN LADEN and you guys sit back and are ok with that too?!

Her governor supporter in PA says "many whites in PA are not ready to vote for a black candidate" and you sit back and are ok with that as well?!

I can assure you if Obama started talking with the same NeoCon delusions as HRC has spewed for the last three months the core of his support would evaporate quickly!

WE ARE PROGRESSIVES. You and HRC have truly come to represent the NeoCon portion of the DEM party. That is what this ongoing debate is really about. We are going to push you back to the sidelines. Your candidate lost fair and square. She had every advantage imaginable and yet she still lost. Could it be that she does not actually have the “experience” and judgment required to run something as large as a national presidential campaign?

And if you are callow enough to vote for McCain, remember you bought it if he wins and Roe v. Wade is overturned, affirmative action is eliminated, what is left of the unions disappears, and the President is crowned king under the Unitary Executive Theory by the Supreme Court Justice McCain appoints. Oh, and your kids will be fodder for his state of constant war mongering for eight more years.

My fellow Obama Supporters, I apologize for the rant. I myself have called for collegiality repeatedly. But I have had it with these HRC supporters who have buried their heads in the sand and supported the same kind of sleazy campaigning that Bush and Rove have polluted the world with for the last 8 years.

Hillary knew the rules when she went in - and agreed to them.

As I said - how you and any other Clinton supporter can look yourselves in the mirror and maintain a shred of self-respect is completely beyond me.

Obama knew the rules too--he chose to remove his name from the ballot. He then proceded to campaign in MI by having his affiliated groups urge voters to select "uncommitted." Then in Florida, unlike Hillary, he violated the agreement by campaigning via national ad buys that ran on cable news networks just prior to the vote.

the bottom line is what redstateleroy says, the Democrats are crazy if they really think it's a good idea to stick to their precious rules and not seat delegates from MI and FL. Voters in FL are not happy about this and it will affect the November election. It doesn't help Obama that he has not been a voice for counting those votes and he effectively was the reason a revote died.

Whenever you see a talking head discuss this, they say Florida and Michigan broke the rules as if a piece of land with borders was an animate object.

People make and break rules. In both cases it was chicanery by Republican dominated legislatures. The people of both states were innocent victims.

This comment isn't even in the same solar system as "reality", "fact" or "truth".

This is all completely unsourced bullshit.

Obama had a waiver from the DNC allowing his national ad to be played in Florida. It was a national buy, so there was no way to prevent it from being seen by Florida viewers.

Obama's campaign had nothing to do with encouraging people to vote "uncommitted."

Quote: "He then proceded to campaign in MI by having his affiliated groups urge voters to select "uncommitted.""

This doesn't even pass the laugh test. You gotta be laughing...

avatar

I'll tell you one thing, Hillary's mischievous ways will not go through the DNC. They will never accept this as it is only a way to divide the party even more.

A glimmer of hope for you Hillary supporters...but this will backfire on her if she goes ahead with it.

AND STOP BLAMING OBAMA for it. Those states leaders didn't respect the procedure, too bad, it's not the voters fault, but they should be angry at their legislatures.

Hillary is a hypocrite, she agreed like everyone else that the votes in those 2 states would not count. Now behind she has suddenly become their spokesman. Bill Richardson highlighted that too a week ago.

avatar

And another thing: If Hillary steals the nomination through technicalities or even superdelegates overturning the pledged you will see a huge social and political uproar. In this case I think Obama should run as an independant, he will get millions and millions of votes and even though he would not win this time because the other half will go to Clinton (so she won't win either) he will grow his coalition for 2012 and could and should win then.

---------------------------------------------------

This is what people mean when they say drinking the kool ade. Not even half the democratic primary voters, not nearly all the ones who voted for him, will split with the party. Only the ones who are enthusiastic and inspired. Not everyone who voted for Obama is enthusiastic or inspired. Not everyone who voted for him dislike Hillary. Many Obama supporters like Hillary, they just liked Obama a little bit more. Only a fraction of Obama supporters would follow him on an independent run. Also its too late to get his name on many ballots. Its just silliness to suggest it, drinking the kool ade.

avatar

And if you think Obama is losing ground, no no no...

Tonight's CBS/NY Times poll results:

Obama 50 vs Clinton 38

Obama 51 vs McCain 40

He is recovering, in fact rising! He's also ahead in today's Gallup poll for the first time in a week, 49-45.

I'll take Edsall at his word that some Clinton strategists are "privately" floating this scenario as their latest way to steal the election. I guess they've given up on convincing enough superdelegates to back her.
It actually heartens me to hear this, because it shows the level of desperation in her camp. For this to work, as Edsall notes, two unlikely things have to happen -- and then two major stumbling blocks have to be overcome.
At which point, Hillary will have won what? The nomination of a party split and weakened as never before, and the near-certainty that enough Democrats will be so turned off that she will be humiliatingly crushed by John McCain.
On top of which, it simply won't work. As Hillary herself has correctly pointed out, even pledged delegates (chosen by caucus or primary) can vote their consciences at the convention.
Any attempt to put this plan into operation would offend the consciences of even many Hillary delegates.
At some point -- hopefully Tuesday night -- she will realize it's over.

avatar

Whenever you see someone yelling about the "rules" you can be pretty sure they don't know the rules. If it weren't for the rules Hillary could not appeal to the rules and bylaws committee or the credentials committee.

I believe the DNC all along planned to reinstate the delegates. They assumed it wouldn't matter. Stupid short sighted plans went awry and now they're in a quandry. If they don't find an acceptable solution tho their stupid decision dems will very likely lose Fl and its possible they will lose MI as well. Though polling seems to show MI voters are not so upset as Fl voters.

Seating the delegates from Florida according to the results of the so-called "election" doesn't sit with me. I'm from Florida, I voted, but I know a whole lot of people who didn't because they thought it wouldn't count. So the results don't really represent the voters. That's the bottom line. If they seat according to the results, it will be a sham.

avatar

But who stopped the revote idea? And turnout was higher than in 04 or 00.

avatar

Forida had a record turnout for the primary so your comment about knowing a whole lot of people who didn't because they thought it wouldn't count smacks of sour grapes.
