What Really Bothers Me About the Assassination Rhetoric
He's sitting in his basement, lights off, bare feet in a pile of his own torn-off fingernails. He went off his meds three months ago--thought they were clouding his judgment. But now...now he can see the world clearly, for what it is.
What's wrong with people? Why can't they see it, too?
He checks his websites compulsively, fifteen times an hour looking for new information, any new developments. Then he hears it:
Hillary Clinton, or Liz Trotta, or Wolf Blitzer or anybody whose voice comes from that magical T.V. box just saying the word. He thinks: "they're starting to see...they're starting to see! I must act! It's why I'm here--my purpose."
In a country of 300 million, you can bet that guy is out there, literally. And all this discussion just makes it that much more likely. It only takes one.

I suspect Travis Bickel is more likely to come across a post about assassination written by someone named berserker than a post about poltical gaffes written by Little Miss Muffet.
By the way, what makes you think it can't be a woman?

You're right in your evocation of Bickel, as my assassin was also informed by Emile Durkheim (assassination being a method of suicide for the socially maladapted). But I doubt any would-be assassins are lurking here. The background is too bright.
And I wasn't being sexist in omitting women. While there are certainly female assassins, they're too shrewd to be swayed by any psychotic talk in the media. Money, power, or principle is their game. Think Fanya Kaplan.

I'm sorry, did you say that female assassins are too shrewd to be swayed by crazy talk? Have you forgotten the would-be female assassins who went after Gerald Ford? Please, don't add to the already considerable damage that's been done to the feminist movement by the Clinton campaign by asserting foolishly that female assassins are shrewd and male assassins are psychotics. Assassins are assassins, no matter their sex.

If we stay still and keep really quiet, maybe someone like Glenn Beck won't ask someone like John Hagee on a network like CNN a question like whether or not the Antichrist is gonna be on the ballot this November.

I know, I know, but then I see comments like the one below from blackflag, and I can't help myself ... How is it somehow OK for someone on the teevee to " offhandedly suggest that 'knocking off' both would be great 'if we could' " ... but yet it's not OK for any of us here to say anything further on the subject ???

Hillary Clinton has been burning up the super delegate's fax machines with the news that she has the Timothy McVeigh vote all sewn up. And she thinks it's a good thing! Fortunately, the super delegates are going to see this situation exactly as you do. It is crystal clear that she is unfit. Her few remaining rational supporters are packing up and heading for the exits. By the time of the convention, her pledged delegates may be all that remain of her 'coalition'. And I say that because a: i don't think she will drop out of the race in June and b: I think she is just getting started as far as gaffes are concerned. She is going to keep talking until she feels she has been vindicated or until she destroys her career.
