U.N. racism investigator to vist U.S.

This was making headlines at Redstate and Freepers.

"GENEVA (Reuters) - A special U.N. human rights investigator will visit the United States this month to probe racism, an issue that has forced its way into the race to secure the Democratic Party's presidential nomination.

The United Nations said Doudou Diene would meet federal and local officials, as well as lawmakers and judicial authorities during the May 19-June 6 visit.

"The special rapporteur will...gather first-hand information on issues related to racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance," a U.N. statement said on Friday.

His three-week visit, at U.S. government invitation, will cover eight cities -- Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Omaha, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Miami and San Juan, Puerto Rico".

No stopping by West Virginia?

Thanks for this post. It hasn't had any exposure in the US media.

Now if we could just get the UN to monitor our elections...

I've read of that discussion also.

Monitor elections? Really? Has there been a lot of racism in this campaign? Maybe we can get some peace-keeping troops in WV (or at least surround Bill Clinton with them). Is this Obama's hope for the GE; that he can play the race card again with McCain?

The Bush-Gore election need monitoring. They were both Caucasian.

Too bad you see people voting for Obama only because he's a black man. I could say the same thing and say you're voting for McCain because he's white. Would that offend you?

Well, that'll get the militia nuts back into the woods.

Wonder if Lake County, Indiana is on the docket. Or Las Vegas. Or maybe St. Louis.

Or your house.

Or yours.

O...you're using the "I'm rubber, you're glue" style of debate as deflection of embarrassment.

Who would've known?

Actully no. I was holding my tongue. I don't really appreciate it when people insinuate that I am a racist based on what they have internalized for themselves.

Throwing around these cheap words to try and denigrate people isn't clever. It is pretty disgusting.

I'd say it's the racist remarks you've been making since the WV primaries.

O'Reilly?

Its ok. You don't have to answer the obvious point I was trying to make. But thats ok. Cause in the end winning Alabama and Missippi means more than winning PA and Ohio.

That was hateful? I mean probably silly and probably sophmoric.....but hateful? If I hurt your feelings I will try to be better in the future.

The KO one is my new mantra.

Yes, it offends me to be accused of voting for McCain. Besides, he's more of a Pepto-Bismol pink. And we do necessarily monitor our elections. I don’t think all or even most of any group is voting strictly identity. But a large number are, and in this primary there was a tipping point in momentum that came through race politics and imaginary dog whistles. That’s old news now and beating John McCain is the important thing. The race politics will not help Obama and will probably backfire among non-black working class voters. Praising and pushing a UN investigation into racism against Obama is not the way to win hearts and minds in “Appalachia” (now defined as about half the US- WV, PA, OH, etc.).

I want this thing to go down, if only to see the look at the look on Bolton's face. Ineffectual, indeed.

I like the fact that he's going to be here till June 6th.
