The Empire Strikes Barack
From an e-mail just received:
Hey everybody… A couple of weeks ago, we released Baracky: The Movie. If you haven’tseen it yet, it was the No. 1 viral video on the net and was featured on MSNBC,CNN and Huffington Post. People really seem to love it… we had almost amillion views in a week and a half before we were taken off YouTube by MGM. Well… we’re back!
I’m thrilled to announce the release of The Empire Strikes Barack, the next chapter in our chronicleof the 2008 presidential election. It's jam-packed with action, laughs, dramaand inspiration... so you may need (and hopefully want) to watch it twice tocatch everything!
Here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8lvc-azCXY.
We hope you like it… and, if you do, PLEASE send it to all yourfriends before it’s gone!

Absolutely. I've watched it a couple times just this weekend. What a great blending of the images with the perfect song. And the words, of course -- Obama's and the song's.

I'll tell you what -- it gets harder and harder to stay positive about Clinton when she talks about a so-called "nuclear option," and escalates her tactics that in effect are pulling the wool over voters' eyes just to get their votes. It's beyond me why someone wants to win that way, and why her supporters want to win that way.

Allsburg: "I think this is exactly the kind of thing that rightly turns Clinton-leaning Dems off of Obama. Clinton is not Darth Vader. It's a juvenile prank that's beneath Obama and beneath his supporters."
It's satire. It's entertaining. It made me, and I imagine it made many others, laugh. Since when did satire become beneath Obama and his supporters?
Allsburg: "Have we forgotten about rebuilding the positivity?"
Have we decided to denounce satire to achieve it?
Perhaps you are forgetting that exposing a candidate who chronically lies and cheats, and a Lee Atwater-, Karl Rove-inspired campaign that chronically lies and cheats, and doing so in a satirical, entertaining manner, are themselves positive things, and worth doing despite the strains they may put on achieving positivity?

I love entertaining things. I'm secure enough in why Obama is a better candidate to watch something from the Clinton camp.
But here is the deal: to anyone in the HRC camp that isn't honest enough to already know what they will do if HRC isn't the nominee, is either lying or desperately trying to seek attention.
I won't play the game.
If you aren't for Obama, and he is the Dem nominee, you can:
a) vote for Obama anyway
b) sit out the election
c) write in HRC
d) vote for McCain
e) vote a 3rd party
f) write in a candidate of your choice
End of story.
