SF Chronicle: "Pelosi won't allow convention fight"

This just-posted news gives me hope in spite of myself.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi
says she will step in if necessary to make sure the presidential
nomination fight between Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama does
not reach the Democratic national convention - though she believes it
could be resolved as early as next week.

Pelosi predicted Wednesday that a presidential nominee will emerge
in the week after the final Democratic primaries on June 3, but she
said "I will step in" if there is no resolution by late June regarding
the seating of delegates from Florida and Michigan, the two states that
defied party rules by holding early primaries.

"Because we cannot take this fight to the convention," she said. "It must be over before then."

Pelosi made the comments during a wide-ranging, hour-long session
before The Chronicle's editorial board. She talked about the prospects
for the election of a Democratic president this fall, the legacy of
President Bush and the California Supreme Court's ruling legalizing
same-sex marriage.

Oh, bother....

Add me to the list of posting newbies who've managed to entirely screw up the formatting on their initial submission to the community.

I just want to let everybody know, for historical reference, that this was the day the Steamship Empress of Ireland sank and 1,024 people drowned.

I just automatically think of May 29 as Empress of Ireland Sinking Day, in case that ever pops up in conversation and it seems inexplicable or inappropriate to you. That's just how I remember it's May 29.

So don't freak out or make a big deal out of it if I bring it up.

Do you really need to post this more than once?

amen to that.

Hillary Nmemonic Calandar:
You spammed a simialr thing yesterday on all the posts. Look, it was cute the first time, but either comment on the topic at hand or be gone with you.

coralsea -- Pelosi was also the CBS-5 evening news saying that "we'll have a nominee, I believe, in about ten days." Now THAT made me happy!

I have tried to teach my daughter that just because you want something, that doesn't give you the right to do everything and anything to get it.

I sent an email to Nancy Pelosi yesterday. I am happy to read that she will step in and lead the party forward.

Its fine to say that, but she has no power to make it so. If Hillary decides to take the fight to the convention its her right. Just as no one could stop Ted Kennedy when he decided to take his fight to the convention when the votes were not nearly as close.

We all agree that having a unified Democratic party is crucial to success in November. Hillary has publicly stated that very thing.
If Obama reaches the required number of delegates & Hillary refuses to concede, delegates can simply flip, making it impossible for her to launch anything resembling a fight at the convention.
I think the Clinton's will realize all of this & finally exit.
