Remember How McCain Slammed Obama for wanting to talk to our enemies ...
Turns out he was advocating the same thing just a few years ago. With Hamas, no less (you know, the group whose 'endorsement' is the kiss of death).

This 'maverick' (Mr. McCain) has flip flopped on almost every single issue that you can change positions on. Tax Cuts for the wealthy, Immigration, now this.

It's a compliment to call McCain a flip-flopper. Flip-flopping implies switching between two coherent concepts.
McCain's brain is a loose chowder which contains no coherent concepts at all.

I wonder if you remember that the argument is really about summit meetings without preconditions? All too often, Obamamen distort the argument to make the other side sound extreme.
What Obama has said is that he will meet with these people directly as President of the United States, without preconditions, e.g., acknowledging Israels right to exist.
Make your argument. But make it fairly.
If McCain said the President of the United States should meet with Hamas without pre-conditions, then you have him. If he didn't, you're making a fool of yourself.

Billy...so I know where you stand. Leaving McCain out of it, if you were President and Hamas was an estblished Government in the middle east would you talk to them. Ever? Would you sit down with Kim Jong IL? Just want to know what you would do?

There's a common piece of wisdom for a lawyer - never ask a question you don't already know the answer to. Similar for negotiations - never sit down unless you have a good idea where they're going. There might be exceptions, but you better damn well understand why you're pulling an exception.
