Phew... But hey MSM, why stop the drama now??
First I'd like to thank everyone who responded to my last post entitled "An Obama fan in despair," in which I suggested that a loss in Indiana would continue the momentum away from Obama. Well, we all know what happened in Indiana, but he certainly isn't losing the momentum game now. A few reasons that any fool like me could think of:
1) He won the expectations game.
2) The nail biter in Indiana. It wasn't just that he barely lost in Indiana, it was the gut-wrenching March-madness like quality to the narrow loss. Again this is related to the fact that he was an underdog to begin with, but also the drama of the Indiana race made it that much more impressive of a showing for Obama.
3) Actually, can I scratch 2)? Because I think the real reason was people like Tim Russert calling Obama the nominee. And Drudge Report, etc. Indiana was a close race indeed, but it seemed as though the perception game swung Obama's way after they were separated by less than 4 percent. It wasn't that he had the chance to win (although that did prevent Clinton from making her speech until later).
Anyway, it seems as though mass media was complicit in the Clinton drama as long as it pulled in the ad revenue. (It's certainly worked on me be addicted to TPM). But... only to a certain point. God knows why they would stop the drama now. Does anybody have any ideas?

You give away too much of your personal power. TAKE IT BACK. Russert? Drudge? We can't complain about "THE MEDIA" leading "THE PEOPLE" around by the nose until we, as individuals, refuse to be lead around by the nose. Take your power back.
When you hear someone talking about Reverend Wright in September and October, ask them who selected Wright as their running mate. When you hear someone talking about elitism, ask them how someone whose spouse made over $100 million dollars for speeches (Wllm. J. Clinton) or from their daddy's beer distributorship (C. McCain) gets to call someone who grew up in a single parent household an elitist. When you hear someone talking about Obama's opposition to the gas tax holiday, ask them why they think the oil companies won't raise prices to match the rate of the tax during the summer driving season.
We're better than this. We're better than Drudge. We're better than Russert. We're better than Gibson and Stephanopolous. We're better than the crap we've been served up on a platter. We're better than to allow someone to piss on our heads and tell us it's raining. That's what Barack Obama has been saying all along. His candidacy isn't about him, it's about us. Look at it as the opposite of the nonsense Bush has been spreading about the Iraqi Army: When it comes to the Mainstream Media, when we stand up, they'll stand down.
