Of Course McCain is doing well in the polls
This is a topic I touched on in an earlier post, but I wanted to unpack it a little more. I think that the reason
McCain has been polling more or less even with either Barack or Hillary is that he
has been polled against Barack OR Hillary while they are campaigning against each other. We've seen enough exit polls
showing people who say they would vote for McCain if their Democrat
loses to know that some of these people are probably answering that way
when polled from a "vs. McCain" perspective. I can't believe that this
has not been addressed more fully by Chuck Todd or John King or the
like.
It strikes me as similar to when more than one player on one baseball team is in the running for MVP in a given season. They will split the hometown vote, and someone else will win. I guess there is some danger of this happening in November, but I just don't think its likely, considering there's a lot more at stake than baseball.
It seems obvious to me - Am I missing something?

I would also add that this is probably hurting Obama in these polls more, since his voters have been shown as more willing to vote for Hillary than vice-versa.

I pointed this same exact point out, quite pointedly, in a comment just two days ago. Damned if I can remember which post I commented to, but that's beside the point.
The point is, I agree wholeheartedly with your point.
I pointedly recommend this point, er, post.
