Someday, I will write an actual post again, but until then, more excellent news:

Obamamania sweeps the Hill

By RYAN GRIM | 5/8/08 1:25 PM EST
Rep. Robert Brady (D-Pa.) was driving toward Washington Thursday morning when he got a call from Barack Obama. Brady asked Obama where he was and the man fast approaching 'presumptive nominee' status told him he was in the Senate.

Brady had an idea: Obama should pop on over to the House chamber and say hello. And that's just what the Illinois senator did.

Shouldn't we be seeing another roll-out of endorsements today? Zogby promised 30, I'm holding him to it.

Here's one:

Jean Lemire Dahlman, a rancher and National Democratic committeewoman from Forsyth, Montana has just told RAW STORY that she will give Sen. Obama her superdelegate vote.

“When you’re in college and you read Plato’s Philosopher King, you think, yeah, that’s what I want in a leader; someone who can lead and unite us and I’m not sure Hillary can," Dahlman said. "She’s smart. She’s capable, but I don’t think she can unite us and that’s why I’m giving Barack Obama my superdelegate vote."

Another g-damned book-readin' elitist!

Here's another:

,blockquote>Rep. Brad Miller is endorsing Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The three-term lawmaker from Raleigh is the third North Carolina superdelegate to pledge support to Obama since the Illinois senator's convincing victory in the state's primary.

Miller says he decided to endorse Obama following an afternoon meeting with the candidate.

Obama now has the support of nine superdelegates from North Carolina. Rival Hillary Rodham Clinton has the support of three state superdelegates, including Gov. Mike Easley.

There are five uncommitted superdelegates remaining. Obama won North Carolina's primary by 14 points on Tuesday.

...and another:

Larsen endorses Obama after Hill meeting

Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) surprise visit Thursday to the House floor has already paid dividends in the form of a superdelegate endorsement.

Rep. Rick Larsen (D-Wash.) announced, after meeting with Obama at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee headquarters, that he would endorse the Illinois senator for president.

Larsen had planned to delay an endorsement until after Democrats voted in the last primaries in South Dakota and Montana. But the lawmaker said Obama’s performance in Tuesday’s primaries in North Carolina and Indiana changed his mind.

“For me, what happened in North Carolina and Indiana ended up being a game changer,” said Larsen. “Especially in Indiana where he came back after getting hit hard for a couple of weeks.”

“We need a change and a clean break,’ said Larsen, adding that Obama’s candidacy represented change to many voters in his district and that his message is one that “people want to be a part of.” Larsen also noted that Obama won overwhelmingly in his northwest Washington district.

Great story. Thanks for passing it along.

Let us hope in this instance Zogby proves to be other than his usual, amazingly, spectacularly wrong self, no?

BTW, it has been my experience Montanans seem to have outstanding Bullshit Detectors!

I think those 30 SD's will be held off and used as a deterrent of sorts to try and keep Clinton in check for the rest of the campaign.

Obama's got a deck of cards consisting of nothing but aces! (There was a Joker, too, but he had to throw that one out last week)

To continue the analogy, Dahlman sees a "Little Bighorn" in the cards for Hillary come June 3rd. Gotta love those Monatana gals!

Dahlman lives on a sprawling ranch outside the rural town of Forsyth in a village called Rosebud. Tucked away in the southeastern part of Montana near the Wyoming border and the Yellowstone River, Rosebud is not far from where Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer camped before his ultimate defeat at the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876. Dahlman is predicting a similar defeat for Sen. Clinton should she stay in the race by the time Montana Democrats vote in the last primary of the season June 3.

There are no race-cards in the Montana deck:

"There's no 'white working voter' problem for Barack here," Dahlman continued. "Yesterday, I was at the post office and I asked a retired welder - a union guy - if he was going to Billings tomorrow to see Bill [Clinton] and he said he didn't think he should since he's going to vote for Barack. And another guy - a young electrician - told me that he's supporting Barack and working hard for him. The people I see on the street are all white and they have no problem voting for a man whose father is black. It's what he stands for - he's authentic, he isn't pandering and he's telling us the truth - that's why people here are voting for him and that's why he'll win Montana."

Congressional Quarterly has a good write-up about Obama's historic visit to the House floor today:

http://www.cqpolitics.com/wmspage.cfm?parm1=5&docID=news-000002719682

Rep. Jesse L. Jackson Jr. , D-Ill., a longtime Obama pal and political ally, taunted Clarke and her friends by calling out to reporters that they were staying away from Obama because “they’re scared they’re going to get elected.”
But Rep. Grace F. Napolitano , D-Calif., a staunch Clinton supporter, was decidedly cool to the unusual presence of a senator on the House floor. “I have a question in my mind whether it’s kosher, whether it’s ethical. I don’t think he should be doing this on the House floor. This is the first time I remember him being on our floor,” she said.

Rep. Elijah E. Cummings , D-Md., offered a far different interpretation. “This shows you the kind of hands-on presidency we’ll see from Barack Obama ,” Cummings said.
