Obama Supporters, Want a reason why Clinton Supporters would have doubt?

avatar

If you can make an issue of what isn't an issue and then have the nerve to call Sen. Clinton the "worst" person on earth. Then , yes, every Clinton supporter will have a long think.

Just out of curiosity, in your mind how does this compare to Obama's use of "bitter" and "cling"?

Obviously she doesn't want Obama assassinated, but it was in incredibly poor taste to bring it up, all things considered. It's not just Obama supporters who have acknowledged this, either. Check out what MyDD and TaylorMarsh have to say about it.

How is it "obvious" she doesn't want Obama assassinated? Isn't that her premise for staying in? That's what I took from it. "Why are people pushing me to leave? RFK was assassinated in June in California." (hint hint) We don't need to tap-dance around this one. It's freakin' obvious!

Maybe it's not obvious to you, but it is to me. If she were actively planning on killing him, of course, he'd be dead already. As to whether she's merely wishfully hoping for it, that's impossible to prove or disprove. I, for one, choose to believe that she's not harboring such hopes, just as I choose to believe that Obama has no such hopes for her.

It was a stupid gaffe, but not the issue most are making it into. On the other hand, "bittergate" was also a stupid gaffe that got blown out of proportion, and I don't recall you ever being quite as generous about it and other issues as you're asking others to be here. Maybe you'll learn some empathy?

The gaffe explanation doesn't work so well considering that she said it twice before. It just didn't catch much negative attention the previous times, so she kept saying it.

It's precisely because she has said it several times before that it is excusable as a gaffe. It was benign as a reference (because it had been so long and we all knew he was killed while campaigning hard in California) before Teddy's tragic and shocking diagnosis of a brain tumor reminded us of the losses we all felt with both Kennedy assassinations and Teddy's failed bid for the presidency in 1980.

She looked mighty tired through the whole interview, a bit of gallantry, and forgiveness might be in order all in all.

"a stupid gaffe"

Demosaur, perhaps people will take the issue too far.

I don't know how far is too far when you bring up RFK's assassination to justify primaries running into June.

But calling it a stupid gaffe isn't really taking it far enough, wouldn't you agree?

Jesus, people, why the over-analysis? Can't a duck just be a duck? Whether Hillary is a despicable human being can be a separate question from whether she was actually saying that the possibility of her opponent getting shot is a valid reason to remain in the race. That is exactly what she was saying. Was she rooting for it? Doubtful. Was she advocating it? Nope. But that's not the issue. If we can agree that she was at least acknowledging that his assassination is a possibility, and then arguing that the specter of it happening was a good reason to stay on, that, in itself, was a despicable act. It shows a severe lack of judgment on her part. It demonstrates that she has difficulty coping with the stresses that will befall her as president, and it shows she frequently fails to think before she speaks (just as with the "hardworking Americans, white Americans" comment).

Even worse, her response was almost more troubling than the initial comment. She has once again demonstrated that she refuses to acknowledge her mistakes, refuses to agree that she can be wrong, and refuses to sincere apologize for ANYTHING. Sound familiar? Like the current worthless asshole in the White House?

I don't care if she stays until after the meaningless primary in Puerto Rico involving voters who have no say in the GE. My anger, and the anger of Obama supporters, is not directed at her. It's directed at the spineless superdelegates who hold the power to save this party and refuse to do so. The only good thing that will come of this inter-party fiasco is that in 2012, we likely will no longer have superdelegates. This is a good thing, to be sure. If we're lucky, we won't have an electoral college holding the country hostage either. I am full of hope...

Chris you wouldn't be the asshole from Corrente would you? If so why shouldn't TPM ban you like you do all dissenters on your blog?

I was skeptical at first. But consider that Hillary has brought this up before. Consider that Bobby Kennedy's fist primary was in May 1968, hardly a long nomination fight. Consider that Hillary is earnestly attempting to gain a slot on the ticket, AND before you shrug that off as rumor, consider this statement TODAY from Clinton's chief fund raiser, from an article on the TPM front page:

Nemazee went on, "It goes without saying that this argument is predicated on the fact that the single most important aspect of Senator Obama's decision is who is able to serve as president in a moment's notice should that need arise. And it is clear that Hillary Clinton fills that role."

Who steps in as VP at a "moment's notice?" The successor to an assassinated president.

It is not a "gaffe." It is part of her argument to the supers.

It is not a "gaffe." It is part of her argument to the supers.

I'd argue it's both.

Clinton/Huckabee,08!

DING! DING! DING!

We have a winner!

It's hit me with such force today. This campaign has brought home to me with such clarity why so many pundits have so often talked of her `polarising` factor.
She IS polarising. SHe is extraordinarily polarising.
Hillary Clinton loses it so many times - that's why Obama supporters `lose` it so many times!
