NC: Half of Clinton Audience Walks Out on Obama
If you watched the complete speeches by both Clinton and Obama yesterday on C-Span, you may have noticed that the audience in the bleachers were divided into two sections, Obama supporters on the left, Clinton supporters on the right.
Clinton spoke first. After she spoke, more than half of that section left.
This was a major event for the party in NC.
I think that the Obama people would have stayed had Obama spoken first.

It's the NC J-J dinner you are referring to, correct? Did they walk out on Obama -- or did they just leave early. After all, Clinton got booed during her speech. As did Gov. Easley for his endorsement.
News reports I read didn't mention any walk out.
Maybe Clinton's people went to warm up their Suburban (since their carpooling to save the much-needed $30) and headed out to buy some gas station capuccino, since they don't drink lattes and stopped by the bowling alley, Wal-Mart to pick up their back-rodered shot-guns and duck decoys, and got home in time to watch Dukes of Hazzard reruns with a boiler-maker and jar of hot peppers.

I didn't hear the boos. If so, I guess that puts in context. I would have stayed.

From Political Radar
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/05/clinton-says-sh.html
ABC News' Eloise Harper and Sunlen Miller reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., had to endure cheers for Sen. Barack Obama and boos for the North Carolina governor, who has backed her, at the North Carolina Democratic Party's Jefferson-Jackson dinner in Raleigh, N.C., Friday evening -- where both she and Obama spoke.
Toward the end of her speech, Clinton pointed out to the crowd that she thinks she is tough, saying to the crowd, “I am no shrinking violet.”
Clinton, attempting to show that there will be party unity, said, “If Sen. Obama is the nominee, you better believe I'll work my heart out for him.”
The crowd erupted into a chant for Obama, leaving Clinton speechless for a few seconds while she waited for them to finish. During her speech, Clinton also mentioned Gov. Mike Easley, who has endorsed her candidacy, and she was momentarily rendered speechless while the crowd booed him.

I wouldn't. Why waste my time hearing a damn liar like Clinton? The truth is the Obama supporters were held hostage, while a roll call of clowns gave speeches. You could actually see the exasperation on peoeple's faces. But then, when Obama finally came out, he lit that place up! He spoke with fire in his belly. It was very impressive. Those few Hillary supporters who did stay behind to here him speak just may be in a quandary about who to vote for. Obama was that impressive.

I would have stayed. I wanted to go to both rallies in my home state, but couldn't make it work. I never considered voting for Clinton, but I would have been interested to hear her speak.

I must admit that I passed up a dinner with both candidates here in town back months ago. My thinking was that I wanted to hear "my guy" and why waste my time otherwise. But to get up and leave? That is childish! (but I guess that speaks to the kind of people she draws....)

And from the Greensboro News and Record
"For the evening event in Raleigh, both presidential campaigns bought blocks of 1,000 tickets to the event, creating two boisterous sections inside the arena. As the time for speeches from the candidates got closer, the two groups traded chants and waved signs."

That sorta rudeness is un-called-for, Jade7243.
Obama doesn't need anyone picking fights he'd rather not fight.
If you wanna fight, pick on McCain. That's where the fight belongs.
