Nasty, Low & Mean
We all know how Republicans conduct campaigns. Not just the Rove/Bushes or Baker/Bushes - but almost any Republican.
The mindset is distinctly Manichean.
The rationale is:
1. Republicans are supposed to Win
2. Republicans are "Good for America!"
3. Therefore, anything I do to win serves America.
The path is a bright line. If it were logical, it would be inescapable.
There is nothing they won't do or say. I am cynical, but this is fact.
Mark Schmitt, at The American Prospect, puts it this way - there is no cost to them for going to extremes, and no advantage to them for decorum.
This is going to be the nastiest, lowest, meanest campaign ever.

What's your point?

Just the simple and straightforward point.
There're too many people who seem to think it will be some sort of surprise if McCain campaigns negatively.

Isn't every one? I mean it's as clear as day that the Republican party is a party of billionaires, bigots, fanatics and hypocrites (at least those are its major driving forces), so they will stoop as low as they can to win. Maybe even lower than necessary just for the heck of it. You know, 'coz it's fun.
Just like communists used to put Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin on their banners, so the Republican banner would have Hoover, Nixon, McCarthy, David Duke and Mike Foley.
