McCain's 2008 Trolling Pro/Am Tournament
While longtime TPM viewers are certainly not strangers to GOP operatives injecting themselves into the discourse via their myriad performances on the many daily threads here at Election Central and other leading blogs, you might be delightfully surprised to know that the McCain campaign is Stepping Up to take note and reward their efforts.
As noted (hilariously so, I might add) on the Huffington Post, the McCain campaign has announced the 2008 Trolling Pro/Am - a tournament in which all trolls, professional and amateur alike, are invited to perform on a wide range of suggested stages in exchange for McCain Action Center Points. While your humble critic is unsure if these will work in the same fashion as the once-venerable Camel Bucks, to be exchanged for McCain ashtrays or Beer Coozies, they are surely a formidable carrot to dangle as the Trolling Titans compete for the top-tier glory.
It should be noted that while TPM is not currently among the "suggested" sites, we're certain to find some of these performances spilling onto the TPM stage as the tough competition pushes our intrepid performers to seek a more diverse audience than The Great Orange Satan alone will allow.
Given the Pro/Am designation of this tournament, the campaign has wisely introduced a Talking Points Handicap to ensure fair competition for the glorious Action Center Points - with a daily roster of Cogent Arguments to make on behalf of the scrappy Maverick of the Panderosa (ht - Liam). While some performers might find this addendum a Character Restraint, it will certainly help to Level the Field for amateur trolls looking to make a name for themselves, and ensure a consistent message from both newcomers and professionals alike.
The McCain campaign is striving for an immersive Mystery Dinner Theatre feel for the project, so you might find yourself wondering from time to time if you're reading an entrant in this Epic Struggle for Action Center Points as opposed to a run-of-the-mill performer. Your humble critic will point out Pro/Am Tournament performances as a special category when he's able, but you can also follow along by reviewing Today's Script at the tournament site, a sort of Field Guide to identification of the various Species of performers we'll be treated to as the general election unfolds.
The 2008 Trolling Pro/Am is certain to inject even more excitement into what has already become a Banner Year for mainstage Performers. Your humble critic, for one, looks forward to this New Golden Age of trolling with unrepentant glee.

Many thanks, Lois Plain :)
I'm just now IMing one of the other critics that will soon join me for the season's coverage in fact, so we should soon have a range of voices covering the events and performances as we push toward November.
The TrollCritic Collective hopes to be your Number One Source for McCain's 2008 Trolling Pro/Am Tournament News and Reviews. Thank You for your Continued Support.

Do you have a Players' Handbook for your troll criticism? I'm really impressed by your use of modifiers-- incidentally, what is John McCain's armor class?

Any room for a Troll Psychic? My crystal ball sees a few McTrolls calling foul on TrollCritic 3000 in the upcoming McCain Trollathon. This is surely....Great News for McCain!

Funny you should ask, plusorminus (love the handle, btw). We've begun to expand the TrollCritic Collective roster this week, and a TrollPsychic is a delightful idea that I could see going far in this landscape.
A psychotherapist I'm acquainted with has even offered to take on the role of the tough but fair TrollCounseler 8000 to help some of our beloved performers work through some of the issues that keep them from reaching their True Potential.
With so many good ideas brought to the Care and Feeding of Trolls table, this is sure to be a splendid campaign season :)

I'd really LOVE to see TPM Cafe run the 2008 Troll Pro/Am handicapping as a regular feature, at least until McCain's handlers decide they've had enough.
One feature to consider might be to post, for our immediate delight and reaction, the daily TP from the tournament site -- making **this** site the one-stop shopping destination for all of us.
To start it off, here are today's TP (yeah, I know: it's plural. But TP is so much emblematic, doncha agree?):
The Issue: Time for Solutions
John McCain will put the national interest ahead of partisanship, he will work with anyone who sincerely wants to get this country moving again. If John McCain is elected President, the era of the permanent campaign will end. The era of problem solving will begin.
The Issue: Partisanship
There are serious issues at stake in this election, and serious differences between the candidates. And we will argue about them, as we should. But it should remain an argument among friends; each of us struggling to hear our conscience, and heed its demands; each of us, despite our differences, united in our great cause, and respectful of the goodness in each other.

Of course, if it's TP we're discussing, maybe it's Number Two rather than Number One source. Or maybe that's just the opining of someone still in the grips of psychotherapeutic ... projection (I will leave to you the visuals of projecting #2 and #1).
