McCain Sets the Bar Reaaalllly Low Re: 527s
On the day we hear of one more way Obama is asserting himself as leader of the party, this is just out from Ben Smith and McCain's standard for 527s:
More specifically:
"If you're working for a 527 involved in the presidential race, you won't have a named role in our campaign,” said Rogers.
Under the new policy, a copy of which was provided to Politico, “noYep, work for a shady 527 and John McCain will not acknowledge you exist. He'll probably still encourage you and let you do your thing...but it'll be on the Q.T.
person with a McCain Campaign title or position may participate in a
527 or other independent entity that makes public communications that
support or oppose any presidential candidate.”
John McCain, more maverick-y by the hour.

Yes, "won't have a named role". Suppose they'll be able to spin anything from this? Seems pretty hollow to me.

Way to go McCain. Thanks for conceding the High ground to Barack.

Ummm - that's the law if I'm not mistaken - no links to the campaign whatsoever - or am I missing something? Unless he's trying to say he won't hire any ex-527 staffers. Otherwise - duh.
