Articleman, sweetie, you are always posting substantive stuff. Even when you post snark, it's not substance resistance.

It's just that sometimes I see some postings on the TPM cafe side and I get bored. In fact the feeling that sweeps over me is that of a hamster on its wheel inside a cage.

The TPM election side also, on rare occasion, appears tedious. At that point Tbogg and his many nemeses like Gun Counter Gomer, appeal. Trolling on wingnut blogs can be funny, but only when I'm bored. But generally TPM satisfies. I just need to paint more often. Generally helps.

Yvatrix, I've really never liked the Cafe. It's like pseudo American Prospect-lite, and the American Prospect has always bored me shitless. It's liberalism trying to prove how valid it is by boring people to death.

Writing needs to be _lively_, like the New Republic if it had a better compass and wasn't staring at itself in the mirror and groping itself. But sometimes even still TNR gets there.

I like this board right now. I wish the conspicuously thoughtful people, like yourself (Allsburg is another example, lbp above is another, there are so many) would actually post lengthily. I really appreciate the collective intelligence in here, and the chance to write.

I think I know what you mean about painting. I work too much and I've started running again. Running is zen for me, even though my mile time is crap compared to ten years ago. Gets you back to yourself and out of the cage.
