I don't want to earn my degree in less than 24 months!

For the most part I'm happy you guys have so many advertisements, I've even clicked on a few, but you really need to get rid of this monstrosity that's going to send me into an epileptic fit.  I'm not sure if others are having a hard time reading the text when this ad keeps pulsating in the most horrific way but I sure do.

If you're using Firefox try Adblock. It works.

Nah, I find the ads here remarkably interesting as long as they don't distract. For example when PBS advertises upcoming frontlines or new HBO specials. It's also interesting to see the back and forth between Obama and Clinton ads. The labor unions are also in the mix and it's too bad that TPM can't really comment on them but I've been fascinated at the back and forth. I remember when Clinton finally started plugging her website and poof her ads were everywhere online and you couldn't find Obama, That must have cost a pretty penny. Then about 2 months ago Obama began creeping back into the mix, most probably because Clinton was paying too much for the placements and had to back off the high rate. If you have adblock on you miss out on a lot of this back and forth, plus you are not helping to support TPM...

You can easily configure AdBlock to only block advertisements from the site pushing the "earn your degree in less than 24 months".

I understand the attraction to adblock, however I'd really like to not have to arbitrarily edit a site's content. Advertising says something about a site, I'd hate to lose that information. Instead I think it's up to the site administrators and users to keep the site's ads interesting and useful. (as hard as that may be on blogs)

I recommend Adblock Plus instead; the original Adblock was great, but for whatever reason the developers haven't done much with it for a couple of years I think.

If nothing else you could set it to block only that one annoying ad, I believe, though I have have it set to automatically update the filters that catch the ads so I hardly ever see one (unless I want to; it's easy to turn off and on).

If you feel guilty about blocking the ads that provide revenue for this site just send a small donation to TPM once in a while.

I dunno, the ad that I found worthy of a call to the Irony Police was the "Christian Dating" one with a model who looked like she was posing for Adult Friend Finder!

Have you seen the one for Muslim Dating? (I kid you not.)

I'm happily married, but I actually had to click on that one out of a sort of morbid curiosity. Many of them are literally in burqas.

Wow. I'm actually more surprised by the ones who aren't even wearing head scarves...

I didn't click on the Christian dating site, but I did make a copy of the ad to show to my wife, who agreed with my assessment of it...

Honestly you should click on the Christian dating site. You are interested to find out more, you probably won't use it but you would at least know more about it and help TPM at the same time. I often click on the new email fishing schemes that I see on TPM to see who is paying for them and to make them less profitable. (plus it helps TPM)

Well, the benefit to TPM is a fair reason. But I certainly had no interest or need to find out more...
