HRC channels McCain on Iraq: Just Incredibly Awkward . . .

In 2005, on CBS, Hillary Clinton agreed with John McCain's argument that if we get the casualties down, staying in Iraq indefinitely would be AOK:

Senator McCain made the point earlier today, which I agree with, and that is, it's not so much a question of time when it comes to American military presence for the average American; I include myself in this. But it is a question of casualties.  [. . .]  We don't want to see our young men and women dying and suffering these grievous injuries that so many of them have. We've been in South Korea for 50-plus years. We've been in Europe for 50-plus. We're still in Okinawa with respect to protection there coming out of World War II.

Now there are various ways one might distinguish her position then from what is still McCain's position.  And the HuffPost piece quotes the HRC campaign trying to make those distinctions.  But given that both candidates, and the DNC, have focused on the "100 years" comment, and McCain's comparisons of Iraq to Korea, Japan and other multigenerational occupations, this quotation is just profoundly awkward.

Yes, stupid and awkward.

She's a really terrible politician. Obviously fake always, clumsy, cringeworthy.

Wasn't this about the same time that Obama said there was little difference between his and Bush's position on the war?

Uh, no.

The quotation you refer to was from July 2004, and what Obama said was that there was less disagreement between Kerry & Obama, on the one hand, and Bush on the other, on what to do once war was started in 2004, than there was in 2003.

Oh, and Hillary's mischaracterization of Obama's July 2004 statements re Iraq rated "two Pinnochio's" from the WPost.

Hmm, Maybe, just maybe, some of the things I've been saying about Hillary Clinton are COMPLETELY JUSTIFIED!

Just a thought.

Hillary The Oblitarator, is just as big a War Monger as McCain. She would not get us out of Iraq. She is an habitual liar, so why should you trust her now. She is just lying about what she plans to do, in order to win the nomination. Hillary, The Obliterator, is eager to wage war on Iran. She voted for the Kyl/Lieberman Iran war ploy.

Hillary and McCain are the same.

Which war monger do you prefer folks!

Obviously McCain is her guiding light.

Hillary Clinton: Working Hard to Elect John McCain

I guess you're tired of HRC's bullshit to, huh Otto. Don't worry, us Obama supporters sympathize with you. But hey, just remember that you can jump off of sinking ship, if you so choose. Come to the dark side.

Bwahahahahahahaha!

profoundly awkward

That's a nice way of putting it. I would say treasonous, to her party and to the principles she is supposed to stand for. Everything she is doing is designed to help McCain and undercut the Democrats' ability to win in November.

To Clinton supporters:

What do you think of her campaign at this point? About her recent statements on killing whole nations of people, of brazenly lying about Bosnia, of her new found right-wing friends, such as Scaife, Murdoch, Buchanan, Scarborough, while simultaneously attacking MoveOn.org? Or, how about her slash and burn - Karl Rove approved - campaign tactics?

Do you think her behavior is merely deceitful, or do you believe she is revealing her true self? What exactly ARE the reasons you continue to support her?
