Hillary and Steph and NAFTA
In the town hall this morning, one of two things happened, and each seems troubling.
1) Hillary and George attended those Anti-NAFTA meetings together. Which begs the question: If this is true, why hasn't George mentioned it before? Doing so would've answered a lot of questions, something journalists usually desire to do.
2) They didn't attend them together. In this contingency, Hillary is betting that George won't challenge her. If that's the case, she was right and George should turn in his press card.
I'm not sure which one it is, but either one continues to prove that George is incapable of managing a proper role in this election, and calls into question how much journalistic integrity he has to begin with.

I think Stephanopolous was reluctant to reveal the real details, for various reasons... I've been told that Clinton and Steph were both critical of NAFTA privately, but he was more so than she. Certainly she made no effort to criticize the trade pact publicly until this election.

Why in the world would he be hesitant?
I realize why he wouldn't support her assertion there in the moment, but what you're saying suggests that he knows she's been against NAFTA all along (despite all appearances to the contrary) and yet he's been "pretending" to think it's worth debate?
Unless he's never debated this issue on his show, and I find that hard to believe, especially around Ohio when it was so focused on.

I guess he doesn't want to insert himself into the debate, so he can maintain his "objective journalism," as Hillary put it this morning. That's all I can guess. It might have been awkward for him to say, "Well, yes Hillary, you were against NAFTA, but not as much as me," in the midst of the interview this morning. I think he didn't want to help her or hurt her in any direct way, so he stayed away from it.

I get that his hands were tied today, but what I want to know is, well, is it okay that a "journalist" keep a "truth" or an insight from the public, just to keep themselves out of the debate.
I say no.
