Here is where we discuss Hillary on "This Week"
She is getting batted around a bit by George S. She also just got slapped down by an audience member who directly said she thinks Clinton is pandering.
Still, she is holding up well under fire and staying on message. She is conveying her message sincerely and thoughtfully. Not bad at all

George S. Just asked her about the Indiana plant closing. I do not think she expected it. She is trying to spin it back right now. He asked her if the Clintons didn't do enough and failed the workers in the US. This guy is trying to get back his reputation after the ABC debate debacle.

I swear that I hope someone will put this on youtube. It is really great TV.
This will probably earn her some votes.
Wow, Georgie just asked her about the speaking fees, library donors, and the rest. WOW this dude is killing it. He is asking everything people thought he would avoide.

I hope other folks are watching this. I am abandoning this at 10:30 to watch "Meet the Press."

George is putting his foot in her ass today. He should have done this in the last debate.

It is truly amazing, isn't it? She started off looking very prepared and now she looks like she has never done this before. I thought she was going to continue rocking the house but Georgie Boy is keeping her on her heels.

I think she comes across like the Terminator. Unlike Mr. Ummm...Errr..., she doesn't even stop for a nanosecond to think about what she's going to say. I don't like her one bit, but I have to say she is a formidable machine.

She does seem a bit programmed, but that makes her look sharp, usually. Today is not her day.

she just said the word "cellulosic"!

"cellulosic" is the word of the day... Obama just used it. i hate these intellectuals and their pointy, pointy egg heads

yeah, he did just say it. He is performing far better than Clinton was when I changed the channel.

Seriously though - is cellulose ethanol not infinitely preferable to the other forms of ethanol?

I'm not sure why that's a bad thing. I haven't seen This Week yet but when they're talking about energy policy, cellulose ethanol is the one they should be talking about.

Our local station delays the show so that it is after all the other Sunday shows instead of being up against them so I will not get to see it for another hour and a half.

I DVR'd it, have to watch it later on.
So no softball?

What's with her standing up? It felt a bit awkward to me for a while. George didn't know what to do for a bit then he stood up too. Now everytime a question is asked their standing.
As long as they show HRC from the waste up, she's fine, but she should avoid the full-body shot at all costs. Not flattering.

She was sitting down until the woman in the audience accused her of pandering with the gas tax "holiday", then she stood up in a clear attempt to intimidate her listeners. It's all about body language.

Can someone update us on the second half of the program? What is Georgie asking? How is she responding?
May 4, 2008 11:03 AM | Reply | Permalink
I found it too boring to watch. Obama on meet the press now, which is pretty good.

For about 10 minutes in the first half, it sounded as if both George and Hillary had actually read my open letter posted here last night. Former White House press secretary, Magnequench, trade. The subjects were sort of bunched together. On the other hand, her fans are definitely lobbing softballs. I'll give George credit for trying to insist on getting an answer to the questions. Good. She's still weaseling out of them, though.

I didn't watch it, what exactly did she say about not releasing Clinton donor info until after she is elected?? Was there any rationale for that?
Sounds like it wasn't as bad a lovefest for her via Georgie as I feared. Three cheers for the woman in the audience who challenged her on the gas tax pander.

I didn't watch at all, but if that is her stance now it has changed. I believe she said in the past that they'd only start releasing donor names from the day she was the President-elect and going forward until she was out of office.

Actually, this was sort of a gotcha momment imo. HRC said that people donated to the foundation believing that their names would be kept confidential, but when she becomes POTUS she'll change the policy.... George came back with, "but didn't the foundation sell the donor list?"
HRC was stumped, "I don't know anything about that ... you'll have to ask the foundation." George could've gone in for the kill -- both here and else where -- but chose not too.
