Clinton's Big Reason to Remain in the Race
Clinton has two very pressing financial reasons to remain in the race:
1. Her contributions will certainly slow down very substantially after annoucing she is dropping out.
2. The 2002 Campain Finance Law (interestingly enough, co-sponsored by McCain) makes it illegal for candidates to continue to raise money after the nominating conventions to repay themselves for personal loans, IF they drop out of the race.
Now Clinton certainly has many additional reasons for remaining in the race (leaving on her terms, personal tenacity, promises made to her people, prestige, etc.). But I hope it's her debt and $11 M personal loan, rather than the VP spot, that's cementing these other considerations.
I would love to hear other opinions, from both camps.

Clinton is basically running a Ponzi scheme at this point. Somebody's gonna get screwed. Let's hope it's her.
Preemptively, I'd just like to add that it is a violation of federal campaign finance law for Obama to pay off Clinton's debt. It ain't gonna happen, so donate to Obama with confidence.

Is there any chance Obama wants her in the race until West Virginia and Kentucky are over so that when she wins there and he hasn't campaigned, it's more easily overlooked? It's just a thought, but perhaps she's serving some purpose to him. If she does drop out and she still wins, it could be very damaging. Great ammunition in the general for McCain. I can't stand Hillary, but if she's actually taking all this heat for staying in for Obama's benefit, I'm going to have to take back some of the things I've said (or at least thought) about her.

Yeah, I think they're probably happy she's still in it. Paul Tsongas beat Bill in Connecticut after he'd already dropped out of the race, so the Clintons know how embarrassing it can be to lose to no one.

Interesting. I think McCain is still only getting 75% of the vote. That's pretty embarrassing!

Well, former Representative Bob Barr just announced that he's running as a Libertarian, so now they'll have someone to vote for.

I thoght Gravel had turned Libertarian and was going to run for presdident as such.
I remain convinced that Hillary is now running to be Vice President.
I think Obama would alienate all those CLinton women voters if he just walked away with the result ending sooooo close.
