Cats and Mouse
Let's pretend there's a mouse on this thread. All posters with cat avatars, please post here - and if you care, tell us your (cat's) name. You can play with the mouse before you pounce. Just don't drag the carcass it inside, okay?
Tigers and other felines are invited. Other animal avatars are allowed. Everyone else, please keep out - or risk a close acquaintance with some fang & claw.
And no catfights!

Forgot to mention - for the purposes of this thread, cats pretending to be other animals still count as cats and are welcome.
(I would be grateful if no one pointed out that I just violated the rules of my own thread, okay? I'm not going to pull a Hillary and change the rules in the middle of the game.)

Hello, my name is Rocky, and I'm a sleek, fat, 15 year old American Shorthair, which is a polite way of saying I'm a mutt. I like licking water from the bottom of the tub, licking water in the humidifier bottom when the reservoir is being filled, and licking water from the side of a glass of ice water on the rare occasions that the humidity rises above 30% in SLC. I also like dinner. Every once in a while I puff my tail out and race around like a maniac for a minute or two before I have to lie down huffing and puffing.
It's too bad I can't also show you Misha, the tortoiseshell drama queen perched on the TV waiting for prey to pass underneath, without losing Rocky.

Hello! My name is Socks. I used to live in a big beautiful house with a nice girl and two grumpy grown-ups, but then they moved and dumped me with a gal named Betty. I had a great toy mouse and many kids wrote me and Buddy nice letters, and we had a great book deal. Alas, those carefree days are no more.

I am not a cat, nor do I have a cat avatar, so I should not be posting here.
I'd just like to say, before I'm yanked off the stage and shoved into a mouse-hole for breaking the rules (and yes, rules do matter) -- I'd just like to say that my two cats Willie and Wallace are both voting for Obama this November. Not officially, of course, but in mind and spirit.
I'd also like to add that I think this post is catty and cat-ist and I reject and renounce myself for even reading it, let alone commenting on it.

Hi. My name is Jester. I'm about three years old. I'm fat as hell - you got a problem with that? Getting me was NOT the idea of the person using me as an avatar. But we get along just fine. The toddler in the house drives me kind of crazy, but I'm not aggressive towards him. I just run away, and when he goes to bed, I sprawl out on the Living Room floor and stretch my full length, enjoying the peace and quiet.

As best as I understand the Directorate as described by MonicaL, who I champion here, the answer is no. Monica's task was to bring it down which she did. They're gone--are they not? Only Desidero remains. Not even Billy Glad is here.
What interests me is that you are most assuredly not in the Directorate. But I am sure that you have taken quite an interest in avatars, which leads me to the question of who might you be.
I'm sure that you agree that the idea that Billy is just about everyone as suggested by some is nonsense.

I've never been sure who or what the Directorate was, so the best I can say is that I'm not aware of ever having been part of it.
Do not confuse my interest in avatars with interest in the persons behind them, or more accurately interest in the exact relations between avatars and persons.
I like cats, and they're lots more fun than Hillary Clinton. It's as simple as that.
And yes, I doubt Billy is anyone else besides Billy.

I applaud the tireless and anonymous folks who pretend to be gotalife, fogu2 and other local celebrities. Right now gotalife has at least two "shadows" (possibly the same person), if not more. I don't know if this is an effective way to fight trolls, but it's definitely funny! Kudos.
There are also several entertaining more or less fictional characters, from five or eight versions of Hillary via MonicaL up to the current apogee, Edmund Crankypants. I wonder if their creators suffer from split personality disorder yet.
In the past, another event caught my eye - that was when so many posters spontaneously(?) acquired a middle name, Hussein. It was an effective way to push back against those ridiculing Obama's name.

No, I wouldn't say. It was obvious that some people were posting under multiple names (with or without avatars). Who exactly those people are is not nearly as interesting as what they post.
Similarly, I would be very surprised if you weren't also posting under one or more other names. But is that really relevant? You tell me.

My guess is that Mrs No Pic is neither, or rather someone else.
Context does alter meaning, but lack of information isn't context. As long as no one knows who the people behind the names are, it matters very little who they actually are.
Then again, anyone whose user name is "Psychology" spelled backwards may - or at least pretends to - have something to say about that.

My handle is just simple word play. A gimmick. It pretends to say more than it says.
Yes, when person is unknowable, persona alone is relevant. But interactions between personae are knowable context.
Mrs No Pic, if you are no relative of Cypher, you are most adept at reproducing his rhythm -- indeed almost too obviously so. Is that a deliberate effect? A coincidence? Or accidental expression? A question of intent, more than indentity.
I am convinced Monica will come and play again, whenever she chooses to.
