Bin Laden, murdered in 2002, releases new audio tape
According to Benazir Bhutto, who was interviewed by David Frost before she was assassinated, clearly stated Osama Bin Laden was murdered in 2002. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnychOXj9Tg
According to Sky News, Bin Laden just released a new audio tape, in which he states that Israel is at the heart of his holy war. And that Al Qaeda will continue to fight against Israelis.

So who are you going to believe? Consider this: every time these alleged "new Bin Laden" tapes surface, they carry a message that reinforces the administration's narrative at the time.
For example, when they wanted us to believe that Al Qaeda was the "center stage enemy" in Iraq, and that we weren't just caught in the middle of a civil war, a new Bin Laden tape surfaced to confirm that.
And as recently as yesterday, Bush and McCain and other neocons trumpeted their commitment to protect Israel against Iran or any other threat. It's no coincidence that a Bin Laden tape was just released claiming that Israel is at the heart of his holy war.
It does seem that Bin Laden changes its central cause as often as the administration changes its main reason for invading Iraq.

Bin Laden is long gone, otherwise we would have all kinds of fresh video from him. I've lost track of the number of outside-the-US sources who all agree on this, but Bhutto going on record saying he's dead is a perfect example. His family even put an obituary in the Cairo newspaper back in 2002 saying as much. I trust this recent audio tape as much as I trust the "independent" Pentagon news advisors.

Osama bin Laden is our Hari Seldon.

He carefully analyzed our probable future and has prepared tapes for every critical juncture - until the Mule takes power.

Nice job, Gary.
Yeah, it's amazing how the scumbag MSM buried everything regarding Ms. Bhutto in near record time. (Including that brave blowhard Keith "I'm the Ed Murrow of My Time" Olbermann.)
This is a little off-topic. (Not really.) In all the piling on last night regarding Herr Bush's Knesset statements, how come nobody mentioned that all the Knesset members were applauding what he said as if it was a homecoming game?
What's missing, of course, in this nasty little episode is any challenge to the assumption that the #1 priority of any U.S. President is to basically let Israel get away with murder, displacement, and cultural extinction at will. (On the U.S. taxpayers' dollars, of course, Israel being the ultimate Welfare Queen.)

It's because it was one disgusting comment in the middle of a speech, which he filled with the kind of stuff which politicians are required to clap for. When he made those specific comments, though, the views I saw of the Knesset showed them looking really uncomfortable and annoyed.

If elected, McCain is still promising to hunt down Osama Bin Laden vowing to "follow him to the gates of hell."
If he feels this passionately about capturing Bin Laden, why has he done nothing to focus on that in the last eight years? Why didn't he stand up as a Senator and force the issue?
And do we really want another Commander In Chief blatantly lying?

isnt it interesting how bhutto claims OBL is dead like its old news and no one in the us press or media even bothers to pick up on it.
i mean, i dunno if bhutto was right, but i dont think she would knowingly lie about it so her comments definitely deserve some scrutiny and investigation.

Bhutto says that he was "murdered" in '02; The French say that the Saudis think he died of typhoid in '06 and I've long held that based on an old news report (which I can't quickly find) that because Special Forces suddenly quit searching Tora Bora caves when they were about a quarter of the way through, to the surprise of their Afghan guides because they had been recovering weapons and intelligence, he was most likely killed in the bombing.
You'd think though, by this point they'd at least be doctoring the tapes or something because if the convenient timings weren't enough, the fact that they really don't have any contemporary references are a dead giveaway.

I've often wondered why Bhutto's comments were never given the attention they deserved. She said it in such a way that was so off handed, like it was no big deal at all. As Opus points out, there have been many sources for this assertion outside the US.
I, too, believe he is dead. I have for some time.
I'm not quite cynical enough to believe the US is behind the latest audio attributed to Osama. It would make sense for Al Qaeda to make a release marking Israel's birthday. They've also made references to Palestine in the past.
One thing I do find interesting is that Bin Laden almost always released video tapes, not audio.
There hasn't been a verified video released by him since he was supposed to have been murdered.

I used to blame Close Encounters for a lot of our societal problems, but after Bush/Cheney, I no longer think Spielberg was just being paranoid.

Sooooo is Barack Obama in on this plot to make it seem Osama is still alive? In his speech today, he said Osama bin Laden was still "at large," he didn't imply that he's dead. And he's on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. Or is he just a fool for believing it?

I think it makes Bush & co. look bad either way. If bin Laden is still at large, then it's their fault for not getting him. If he's really dead and they're making this up, then they're awful people trying to keep power. If he's dead and someone is releasing false tapes then Bush & his intelligence agencies are not doing a very good job. It all amounts to, we don't trust Bush.

Obama probably knows little more than what he's been told and it wouldn't be proper for him to question the veracity of the administration's intelligence without some evidence to the contrary. While, we on the other hand can theorize to our heart's content.

Who do you believe, Bhutto or Sky News????
I'd say Sky News.
Are you suggesting that Bush controls Sky News and is promoting the fiction that Bin Laden is alive? Bin Laden as a convenient bogeyman to be trotted out when it suits their purposes? Have you considered that it would be in the US and Bush's interest for everyone to think he's dead? If he were, don't you think they'd be trumpeting this fact?
Ludicrous.

I can't really see a motive for not getting a giant banner proclaiming "Mission Exterminated" at the first rumor of bin Laden's death, so I'm going to have to doubt this.

With the idea if bin Laden being alive, the administration can better capitalize on the " politics of fear" and they can trot him out at suspiciously convenient times, as they've done for the past few years.

I wouldn't put it past BushCo to try to create a faux Bin-Laden for propaganda purposes, but I don't think they could pull of the linguistic aspect of it. One of the main reason their foreign policy is so abysmally bad is their complete ignorance of the language and communicative styles of the various Muslim factions. Those Bin-Ladin and Zawahiri have to sound right to millions of Muslims or they'd be debunked, and they'd be able to spot a phony as easily as we'd be able spot an Iranian national trying to fill in for Jon Stewart.
It's not just the language - it's all the subtle aspects of that particular cult of fundamentalist Islam.
It's incredibly hard to correctly evaluate the mix of devious criminality and dumbass incompetence in the Bush Adminstration.

Been sayin this since early '04.
Karl had a drawer full of tapes - he'd haul one out any time the natives (us) got restless back when it still mattered to them to keep us subdued.
But then, I believe that Osama bin Laden worked for Bush and Cheney. I really do and I've never believed in a conspiracy theory before. The Bushes and the bin ladens have been in business together for over 25 years.
