Art Anticipates Life?
Sunday comics have a long lead time, so today's installment of Stephan Pastis's Pearls Before Swine was probably written 2 months ago or so.
But in light of the recent controversies, it was perhaps not the best timing for running such a strip.
It's a comic strip, and I wouldn't read any particular meaning into it beyond the obvious pun. The timing, though, is eerie.
