AmericBlog: 'Watch Stephanopoulos help Hillary lie'
John Aravosis over at AmericaBlog calls it like it is. George
Stephanopoulos sunk so low in that he had no qualms about helping Hillary Clinton lie to voters today :
I'm
watching the video of the "Townhall Meeting" that ABC's George
Stephanopoulos held for Hillary this morning and it's astounding how
bad Stephanopoulos is. Let me give you two prime examples.
1. Gas tax.
Stephanopoulos'
first question is about Hillary's plan to rescind the gas tax this
summer. Does he tell the audience, or ask Hillary about, the fact that
she opposed rescinding the gas tax - she opposed her own proposal
- when running for the Senate in 2000? No. That would be the hardest question of all to answer, the question that goes to the issue of her
credibility on this and every other issue, and Stephanopoulos doesn't
even mention it. Here is George's really tough question for Hillary:

2. NAFTA.
Hillary
totally rolled over Stephanopoulos on this one. She started by saying,
oh George, during the 1990s you and I were in meetings where we both
opposed NAFTA. Stephanopoulos says nothing. Not only does he tacitly agree with her claim that he was in meetings with her and that she did
oppose NAFTA in those meetings - which is a lie
- he doesn't respond by telling us what actually happened in those
meetings, that Hillary was such a NAFTA booster it wasn't even funny
(see the video below), and worse, he doesn't note that Hillary publicly embraced NAFTA during her time in the White House. They have her on
film doing it. Stephanopoulos doesn't even note that she's again
flip-flopped on the issue. Hillary lied in front of Stephanopoulos on
national TV, invoked Stephanopoulos' name to "prove" she was telling
the truth, and Stephanopolous said nothing when he knew for a fact that
she was lying.

Perhaps we'll see a video comparison of her statements today with the staements she made then, like the Bosnia comparisons?

I wish Obama would, but he wont' go that far.
Can't you just imagine a 1 minute "Liar" ad compiling her greatest hits?
I'd donate the max allowed left (between what I've already donated and the max) to the campaign RIGHT NOW, even though I can't afford it.

Hey, you don't need to donate a dime. That's what YouTube is for. Just donate a one-minute video.

Sorry about the formatting guys. This blog system sucks. It works fine in a comment to copy & paste, but not in the blog post itself.
I even thought I found a way around the issue but then that even stopped working.
ARGH.

abc "news" should have its head examined. George Snuffaluffagus should not be allowed to "interview" someone he used to work for.
If there's not an inherent conflict of interest (which there is) there's at least an appearance of a conflict of interest which journalistic ethics tell us journalists try to avoid at all costs.
I'm not really surprised though. Just disappointed that ABC, once the gold standard of journalism, has given up even trying to pretend they give a damn.
its sad, really.

No shit - I couldn't believe they let him "moderate" a debate -
What the fuck? No one cares anymore, I guess. Ethics? What ethics?

His questions were just ridiculous, we (better half and I) were folding clothes during that debate, I launched a bunch of rolled up socks at his image on the TV screen that night with lots of “oh cripes George” or “what did he just ask???” lol… (the cat loved it and had a ball with all the sock balls!)

For an outfit as desperate as ABC News, the TownHall Meeting cum dog and pony show must have seemed a surefire way to boost ratings. No doubt head honcho David Westin was banking on an influx of viewers tuning in for the sole purpose of having their worst fears realized. I'm sure Wee Georgie, the former Clinton press secretary, did not disappoint. Worse still, I'm sure Westin got the ratings boost he was after.
Must say I was tempted to give it a look-see, but in the end resisted what I knew would be an exercise in masochism.

I wonder what the show's ratings were today...
Does anyone have any way to find that out? And post it here? Legally?

The ratings will eventually (in about 10 days) be posted here, along with ratings for Meet the Press, and Face the Nation. They don't seem to post the FOX Sunday Morning ratings though, I presume because it's a cable show, even if it is shown on many broadcast FOX stations.

Stephanopoulos sure isn't very popular with Obama supporters ever since he made Obama look like a wimp in the ABC debate.

Oh yeah, Georgie got rave reviews (laughing as I type) for his performance that night.. I don't remember any of them being that he made Obama look like a wimp though.
Nice try though chump...

Might as well have Tony Snow interview George Bush.

Stephanopoulos former Clinton hired hand passed the audition as Clinton shill. He did it while in disguise as a journalist. The Mickey Mouse nature of the interview was indeed well staged and naturally on ABC
