13 of the 30 Members of the Rules Committee are Professed Hillary Backers
Today in Florida, according to the Huffington Post
Hillary Rodham Clinton says she is willing to take her fight to seat Florida and Michigan delegates to the convention if the two states want to go that far. In an interview with The Associated Press, Clinton was asked whether she would support the states if they continue the fight.
She went to Florida to rally Floridians to take the fight to the convention floor. It maybe just a threat designed to maximize her yields at the May 31st, Rules Committee meeting. In any event, I don't trust her.
What will happen on May 31st? Clinton wants to seat Florida and Michigan regardless of whether they broke the party rules. She agreed that FL/MI should not count when she believed that she was going to win by Super Tuesday. After her devastating loss in North Carolina, she turned into a champion for FL/MI voters, assuring them that she would fight to the end so that every vote would count. I have heard Wolfson suggest that since Obama got zero votes in Michigan then he should not get any percentage of the Michigan uncommitted vote or delegates. Obama and Edwards took their names off the ballot when all decided that those states wouldn't count.
Only 8 members of the Rules Committee are Obama supporters. The remaining 9 are undeclared. Seating FL/MI as if nothing had occurred is fantasyland and Hillary's stated goal. I am tired of Hillary's propaganda, It is her intention to put the rules committee in the position where not including FL and MI according to her will, will damage the ability of the party to unite after the primaries end.
Clinton wants delegates to reverse the will of the voters because she has won applachia. (her latest rationale) She wants superdelegates to dismiss the will of the voters and ignore delegate counts. By racking up these high percentage wins, she is hoping to get the rules committee to reinstate the votes and delegates in Michigan and Florida. She hopes that by getting close enough in delegates and perhaps winning the popular vote, she can get enough super delegates to hand her the nomination.
Apparently, whatever overtures she has made by toning down the inflammatory rhetoric (hard working whites) were not directed at Obama or the god of the party but meant to appease her on-the-fence supporters concerned about their own reputations, hanging with Clinton even as it looks like it is over.

A passage in the last paragraph should read " ... were not directed at Obama or the good of the party ...
Oh what I'd give for preview.

She does have 13 out of 30, but by some accounts, she hasn't provided them enough cover to do her will. At least one of them was quoted as saying that Hillary was not going to like how she voted on MI.

I hope that's true and I hope she's not the only one.

I had read the same somewhere. But you never know until it's over.

As a Californian I feel obliged to remind you that Hillary didn't just win "applachia".
As for the "will of the people", you haven't been looking at the popular vote lately. It's pretty close, even if you don't count the people of Michigan and Florida as people.
I loved your last paragraph, though. Just dripping with idealism.

Since neither the primaries, nor the general election count popular votes, what is your point? Also, how can you exclude caucus states? Oh, that's right. They didn't go for Hillary! BTW, have you seen the polls that show that a large majority of California voters would vote for Obama if they had a chance to revote?
If the only way Hillary can win is to cheat, she shouldn't win. She can't win in November, because her presence would energize the lack-luster republican base, which has NO enthusiasm FOR McCain, but would rally to vote against Hillary. THEY VISCERALLY HATE THE CLINTONS! Did you forget that?

Another thread it was reported that Bill Clinton was calling these supporters daily and reminding them that he helped them to be where they are today and he is calling in that marker now.
How does the committee come to decisions? Majority + 1? If that's the case, Clinton may only need three more votes to go her way to get exactly what she wants.
Of course she could just be asking for the stars understanding that a negotiated settlement will likely be reached. Obama is saying they shouldn't be seated, but has also said that he'd be okay with 50-50 or something close that could favor Hillary. So if Obama's starting negotiation point is seen as 50-50 to Hillary's stars and moon request, the negotiated ruling could be more in her favor.

Well I am well aware of her wins, including California.
I assume your comment about the last paragraph is sarcasm. I read that somewhere else, maybe politico. Now On TPM But this is unlikely to happen in reality. She says she'll take it this far if the state delegations want to, which seems unlikely. And without the states as cover, her backers on the committee seem unlikely to take this step, too, because such an effort would almost certainly fail, and her backers -- some of whom have their own careers to think about -- would take the blame for the ensuing chaos. I have read similar things elsewhere.
I am sorry but Hillary doesn't inspire me to such heights anymore.

Actually, what she is trying to do is for the good of the party. The DNC screwed the pooch when they spit in FL/MI faces while forgiving the election moves of their favored children. It was beyond stupid. Think of it. Not only did they strip the states of their delegates, they didn't allow any of the candidates to campaign in either state. It doesn't get any dumber than throwing away 2 large states.
If the states wish to pursue regaining their actual representation at the convention, she should take it to the convention. If FL and MI don't want to fight it out, then don't do it. But I believe that her efforts in this helps the party.

She will take it to the convention if she has to. The DNC has enabled her. Superdelegates have enabled her. Her supporters have enabled her. The MSM has enabled her. And to a certain extent, by not responding more strongly about MI and FL, the Obama campaign has enabled her.
She has no intention to back any nominee but herself.
All she cares about is that she, (not another democrat) wins in November.
The Clintons have divided the party. It was premeditated. They come first, the party comes second. The one year that Democrats need unity more than anything else, Clinton entitlement blocks it.
Look through the Clinton history. Their path has always led to destroyed relationships and bad blood. They create enemies at every step of their lives.
The success of the next president will be based on his/her ability to build relationships, not only between parties, but also between countries.

The MSM is enabling her now because they like a good train wreck. And with Brittney Spears out of the limelight, Hillary's current meltdown might be the next best thing...

It is crystal clear with this woman, its whatever it takes to win. She started out married to the first black president. Then her campaign threw blacks overboard after she lost the first primary that had any of them participating. She immediately went into full pander mode to exploit the black-brown divide to win California and Texas. Then it was on to Appalachia, when the Rev Wright debacle gave her a chance to exploit white suspicion of the black man with the funny name.
So to think that she will not take this to the convention is folly. She's only saying she'll stop in June because if she declared otherwise, the Super delegates would crush her now. No Matter what she gets out of the rules committee, she will spend all summer trying to undermine Obama because she soesn't care about anything but winning. For herself.
This is very sad for those of us who stood with Bill when he was under attack. Maybe its appropriate that she's thrown her lot in with Rush Limbaugh. The 24-7 talk radio assault on Obama has more to do with her winning Appalachia than anything she's done herself. Never mind that his doing the same thing is a major reason her husband's presidency ended up like it did.
It is sadder still to see Obama hold out one olive branch after another, having won fair and by the rules, only to watch her spit in his face. But oh, wouldn't she howl if he smacked her lying, cheating butt back.
