...You Might Be an Idiot

During the long course of this primary, supporters of both Obama and Clinton have touted the strengths of their candidate and slammed every misstep of their opponent.  In turn, some supporters have become blind to the failings of their guy (or gal), and deaf to the ridiculousness of each camp's spin.  Chances are, all of us have harbored idiotic thoughts these last few weeks.  Check below to find out whether or not you are or ever have been an idiot!  GUARANTEED to piss off just about everybody!

Delivered, of course, in the style of America's favorite funnyman - Jeff Foxworthy!

Without further ado...(drumroll...)

If you're not worried about Obama's ability to win working class white voters, you might be an idiot!

If you think that the votes of Michigan should count in a popular vote tally, you just might be an idiot!

If you think that a caucus where people can waltz in and vote with a paper ballot and then leave is "undemocratic," you make idiots look good, moron!

If you think Obama is a cross between JFK and MLK, there's a chance you're an idiot, idiot!

If you sincerely think Hillary Clinton is a fighter for the working class, then make no mistake about it - you are without a doubt a certifiable idiot!

If you think that this long primary process is the best thing to happen to the Democrats in a long time, you might need to take a look in the mirror, you goddamned idiot!

If you think that African-Americans are "racist" for voting for Obama, you just might be a fucking idiot!

If you think Obama is going to win Kansas and Montana in a general election, you might be a very hopeful idiot!

If you think Clinton doesn't have a chance in a general election against McCain, you might be an idiot!

If you think Obama is lucky to be a black man running for President, you could be the world's biggest idiot!

If you think Randi Rhodes is anything besides an unhinged conspiracy theorist crackpot, you might be an idiot!

If you think the media has been easy on Obama, you just might be drinking the idiot juice!

If you think Obama's campaign has been playing the race card, you might have to change your name to Idiot McIdiot!

If you think Clinton would be able to push her healthcare plan through the House and Senate without it getting watered down and altered significantly, then I've got some land to sell you, you idiot!

If you think Obama is going to stop the loss of manufacturing jobs, you might be an idiot!

If you think Clinton would be where she is if she hadn't married Bill, you just might be a revisionist idiot!

If you don't think Rev. Wright is going to hurt Obama in the general election, you're Time Magazine's Idiot of the Year!

If you think Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton is good for democracy, you might be an idiot who would love living in a South American country!

If you think Bill Clinton has, in the past 8 years, refrained from having sexual relations (finger wagging)...with lots of women...like Ms. Lewinsky...you might be an idiot!

If you think Fox News is more "fair and balanced" than MSNBC, you might be an idiot!

If you don't think Obama needs a new stump speech, you might be an idiot!

And finally....

If you're thinking about voting for McCain over either Democratic candidate in November, THEN YOU ARE WITHOUT A DOUBT A HUGE FUCKING IDIOT, YOU DOUCHEBAG IDIOT!!

I'm impressed. Pretty evenhanded of you.

And if you post:

THIS IS EXCELLENT NEWS!!! FOR HILLARY!!!!

you might be idiotic!

LOL

Exactly what many of us need right now...humor and perspective.

Thank you.

I like it. Last one sums it all up.

Guess I'm a hopeful idiot, then. I failed on one. -_- *stamps FAILURE on her forehead*

Hopeful idiots unite!

Insightful on all counts. Obama does need a new stump speech; it is getting stale and irrelevant to where we are in the campaign. He also needs to roll out a shiny new set of policies.

Bottom line: attack Hillary on policy and the media will catch up on character.

Better than the last four hours of MSNBC analysis combined.

Millions and millions of Americans are completely ready to follow the wit of an analysis like this and gain a bit of truth in the process. Given that, why is it that the MSM contributes so little to lasting understanding?

If your name is Gotalife, you are the Idiot that has gone missing from a village in Clintonia.

I think you've got it wrong, Liam. Gotalife is one of us - he's just snarky.

Excellent post and recommended!! :)

Hmmm...It's possible I'm a goddamn idiot. I don't have strong feelings, but sometimes I wonder if the long and hard-fought Democratic primary will just make the general election seem like an afterthought.

LOL!

And I suspect we all have a little idiot in us.

Obama is a cross between JFK and MLK... Hillary Clinton is a fighter for the working class... Clinton would be able to push her healthcare plan through the House and Senate without it getting watered down and altered significantly... Obama is going to stop the loss of manufacturing jobs...
I think this analysis is accurate, but I feel like it is lacking explicit conclusions. Implicitly, you conclude that the Democratic party is one of far-right appeasement, and therefore both ineffectual and corrupt. Also missing is an explicit call to action. Implicitly, on the questions of process, it is an exhortation to read and research, instead of listening to spin. But on matters of substance, it is an implicit call to take radical action, whether it is to support alternative parties, search for reform from NGO's, or seek asylum in a more democratic country-- this is all unclear.

I guess what I'm saying is, I'd be more interested in hearing your prescriptions for this idiocy, rather than simply a litany of folly, albeit a funny and useful one.

>If you think Clinton doesn't have a chance in a general election against McCain, you might be an idiot!

I think you are missing some of the argument on this one. It isn't that Hillary is going to have more or less trouble in the general it's that she is going to be far worse down ticket than Obama. This is the one of the reasons red states are so pro Obama.

>If you think Obama is going to stop the loss of manufacturing jobs, you might be an idiot!

You should include both names on this and I can't agree with you enough. I wince every time I hear either candidate engage on NAFTA or trade in general. McCain wins on this issue hands down.

Great post though!

Freakin' hilarious!

I failed as a hopeful idiot and also on the penultimate.

*stamps REJECTED on her left cheek and FAILED on right cheek* [it's ok, Yvainne, it will wash off tomorrow]

I hope you won't make me denounce myself...

If it makes you feel any better, I reject you.

whew!

That's much better than expecting me to denounce and renounce myself.

"If you think that a caucus where people can waltz in and vote with a paper ballot and then leave is "undemocratic," you make idiots look good, moron!"

Thank you for pointing that out. Everyone is talking about how a caucus favors the young and activists but if you don't want to stay for the whole process you can indeed walk in, register your vote and leave. There were plenty of older folks at our caucus.

Now see, I hear different things about the caucusses, and honestly, I don't know what's true about them. Do they vary from state to state?

Yes, There are no two cacuses with the same set of rules. This means that a candidate must lead his supporters through a different more or less byzatine set of rules in each cacus state. The reason Hillary lost cacuses is she failed this test of leadership.

Sinbad reminds me that if you think Hillary "misspoke" about her Bosnia sniper story, you might be an idiot.

You had me on board until this...

"If you think Clinton would be where she is if she hadn't married Bill, you just might be a revisionist idiot!"

I'm not too sure about it. She is quite driven and seems like she'd be able to accomplish a lot independent of her presidential husband. And I'm not saying this because I support HRC, because I do not. It is, however, possible that I am an idiot. I'm not prepared to rule that out. (;

But, regardless, great post.

She may have done well if she had not married Bill. She amy have even been the first female president but she most surely would not be where sh is now which is running as the former first lady and getting her ass kicked.

Touche.

Lacks the retail political skills to get to the Senate, I think, without the celebrity she got from being Mrs. Bill, but a powerful member of the House, or cabinet dept like HHS? Even Secretary? I can see it. I see her as a born legislator/bureaucrat, which is why I think it's a shame she can't see the real historic effect she could have had in the Senate.
Also, IAMNAL, but it seems to me with her intellect, she would've made a helluva judge or a public/scholar professor type like Laurence Tribe.

You forgot a couple.

If you think who won the primary in a state is reflective of of how the candidates would preform in the general you show an idiotic mnisunderstanding of cause and effect idiot.

If you think that Obama cannot win against McCain in the fall you are the idiot in chief.

Yes, well put.

Thank you. You did the heavy lifiting of coming up with the Idea and an extensive set of examples. I could come up with a few more but refrained because I was unable to see any more Obamidiocy and did not want to just post a list of Hillidiocy. That would reflect poorly on me after your balanced example.

avatar

Thank you, this is awesome!

Another suggestion:
"If you think that Mark Penn's consulting services are worth $10 million (or one dollar), you're an idiot with money to burn.

Yep.

"If you think someone whose husband has made over $100 million for talking has any place calling anyone else an elitist, you just might be an easily-duped idiot..."

I would add that if you do not want your persident to be a member of the elite you are a double dumbass idiot.

Wholeheartedly agreed with.

Agreed. But reluctantly.

Obama doesn't say he's going to bring manufacturing jobs back - he said those jobs will never come back. But what he will do is invest in things that will crate new jobs. e.g. green and infrastructure

avatar

Well done.

Well put. There's some idiocy all around right now.

you had me up until: "Delivered, of course, in the style of America's favorite funnyman - Jeff Foxworthy!"

then you lost me and i quit reading...

I guess my idiot hat is that I really don't see how Hillary can win in the fall -- but that's because the only likely victory is a really ugly win where she winds up being seen by most of us as "stealing" the election via superdelegate, thereby severely alienating young people and African Americans. I really don't see how we possibly win with those crucial parts of the base severely de-energized. I'm guessing she'd be kissing basically half or more of those groups good bye in the general election, who'll be staying home, voting third party, or, in the case of young people, possibly voting McCain.

Speaking for myself, I'll vote for a genetically modified cockroach with a "D" in an election like this (of course, it would have to be over 35 and a natural hatched American citizen), but I doubt I'd do much else, at least on the Presidential level, and I'm sure I speak for many.
