WTF: NC Gov. to Endorse Hillary?
The Associated Press is reporting that North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley is planning to endorse Hillary Clinton, most likely tomorrow. No formal announcement has been made.
Easley, a superdelegate and conservative Democrat who has been the state's governor for two terms, is reportedly planning the endorsement despite the fact that Clinton trails Barack Obama by double-digits in most polls of North Carolina Democrats. The state's voters go to the polls on May 6th.
In other endorsement news, Obama picked up the backing of United States Senator Jeff Bingaman today. The superdelegate said in a statement: "To make progress, we must rise above the partisanship and the issues that divide us to find common ground. We must move the country in a dramatically new direction. I strongly believe Barack Obama is best positioned to lead the nation in that new direction.”

Well, that's wacky Superdelegate stuff. Hill gets killed in NC, but walks away with the governor's superdelegate support. She wins New Mexico and loses that governor and one of the senators.
We need to reform the party so that its members, not its elders, hold the most sway in these matters.

Destor not sure if you caught the Gov of New Mexico on CNN with James Carville or not. Interested in your thoughts. I thought he was smarmy to the nTH degree. I don't know where the Bill Richardson went that I so liked last year.

That's your very objective opinion, eh?

Probably as objective as I can be.

Good for Sen Clinton. I would rather that he had endorsed Obama, but I tip my hat to the good senator from NY for her achievement.

Luckily, NC is not a Dem machine state, so the Gov here will do a lot less good than Rendell did, for example.

Also, remember he's a gov of a mostly Red state, and this Wright stuff probably scared him into thinking die-hard Repubs would appreciate him standing up to Obama and Wright by association.
I'd say politics as usual.
But yeah, congrats to Hill, she sure needs them now.

The current Gov of NC is not up for reelection btw, the 2 people running for his spot on the Dem side have both already endorsed Obama.

Easley... could he have jumped on the HIllary bandwagon--- er, little red wagon for possible consideration as VP material?
It will do no good.

You seem pretty confident that Hillary won't win in NC. I hope Obama wins, but it's too important to the Clintons to let slide.
I see the Clintons winning Indiana and bringing that momentum to NC. The minute Obama loses a state that has been considered "his", it gives supers and remaining voters pause.
Nothing is written in stone. Not even pledged delegates.
It seems to me that Obama doesn't want to win as passionately as he did when the race started.

dont be silly.
you are responding to the attack from the media, the clintons and the republicans all going after him at once.
more reason for the people here to see the truth and stop with the silly stuff like " i congratulate hillary"
geez..does she or mccain represent anything you like about humans ?

At the same time. Why would find this surprising Karen? I get that your an Obama supporter but this Nomination surely has devolved itself into another Eastern Liberal/Fly over DLC contest. Easley would feel more easily at home with Clinton policy stands.

It's surprising because Hillary has picked up about 45 SDs to Obama's 110 since the score was 212-128, and 5 versus 86 over a more recent period. Both on the front end for Hillary and on the back for Obama, the SDs were following the likely victor. So this feels like an outlier, even more so in a state Barack will roll. So while it's the Governor's right, it just seems against trend and a bit surprising.

Reverend Dr. "Jerry" Wright is all over MSM, cable and the web news sites. The REV is the gift that will give and give ... Reverend Wright of the Trinity United Church of Christ who was Obama's Pastor for 20 years. Mrs. Clinton will now win both IN and come within 5% of Obama in NC. Then Clinton wins KY, PR and WV.

HAHAHAHA
I love how this is "WTF: NC Gov to Endorse Hillary?"
rather than "NC Gov to Endorse Hillary"
I should have made a post several weeks ago:
"WTF: Junior Sen of PA to Endorse Obama?"
Don't they know she's leading by double-digits and is expected to win there.
Oh, logic.

I didn't see it. Was Carville supposedly acting as a "journalist," or was he there as a Clinton supporter? It still surprises me a bit(I don't know why) that CNN tries to pass him off as anything other than a shill for H. Clinton.

THis was in reply to something way upstream, but I'm obviously not wise enough in the ways of TPM to get the comment to appear in the right place.
