We must respect McCain's trophy wife
Yes, Cindy McCain is a trophy wife. But, you have to respect her willingness to stand up for her PTSD-afflicted husband. It is not easy living with a psychiatrically damaged person.

Of course we must respect Sen. McCain's wife. Even if the Senator himself does not.

Yeah, that's a really classy quote. But cut the guy some slack. It was a long day.

Merlot, I see what you're saying but I have to warn you... attacking McCain as being PSTD will likely backfire as some will take it as an attack on his military service or worse, on his time as a POW.
I'd stick to assaults on his lack of policy knowledge, his flip flops while claiming to be a straight talker and his age, which is 847.
I think the Viet Nam stuff has to be treated gingerly. We can certainly ask why it's relevant to the qualifications of somebody seeking the presidency in 2008 (because it isn't) but when we go down the road of accusing him of mental instability because of that, we risk alienating a whole lot of Viet Nam vets and their families who should be on our side.
If we bring up the war at all it should be to point out the irony of John McCain wishing his own worst years on the volunteers who defend us today.

Better just stick to policy dementia. Attacking his age may insult the powerful octocentarian lobby.

Trophy wife? You're kidding right? Ol' boy married up. His wife is a very wealthy heiress. Her father's prominence helped Mcain with his political aspirations in Arizona. John McCain is a gold digger.

stating a fact, or even a strong probability, is not an attack. it's a statement.
that said, i'd like to see yer papers if yer gonna diagnose him w ptsd, which he doesn't really present as.
unmistakably tho, emotionally damaged from the torture. and wouldn't you be too? so again, no attack there, just recognized reality in an american hero.
and also too tho , like we always said, never trust anyone over 70.

She has shown her intelligence by not backing up McBush's campaign with a loan and forcing him to violate the campaign finance laws he wrote by promising public money as colateral for a campaign loan; then illegally backing out of the Public Financing of his campaign against the FEC chair's warnings.
McBush further violated the federal election laws he helped write by abusing special rules to get on the primary ballot in at least 8 states, including Ohio, saving millions of dollars for his campaign.

I agree about treading a bit lightly with the PTSD stuff, but it needs to become part of the conversation when dealing with McCain. More importantly, there needs to be real questions about his medical records that he's so far refused to release, and exactly what they contain (and why he would need a battery of doctors to explain it).
Another real and potentially touchy subject that needs airing (in a very tasteful way) is his years as a POW. It's been well documented the types of abuses McCain was put through as a prisoner and as a veteran myself who's served in combat zones, I thank him for his sacrifice for his country. However, according to his own words, he "broke" under questioning and admitted to all sorts of things that were not true. So, in light of this compelling personal experience, WHY IN THE HELL WOULD HE VOTE AGAINST ENDING TORTURE?!!
The absolute BEST thing you can say about this is that he caved to the right wing of his party
McCain has plenty of vetting to go through before November. A lot of it is going to be very personal in nature. It should be done tastefully IMO as I have no desire to participate in a swiftboating, but it surely needs to be done.

Not only did he cave the right wing, he is the right wing despite what he would like people to believe.
