There's more to "Colombia-Gate" than meets the eye.
A quote from the original WSJ story:
"A spokesman for Colombia's President Álvaro Uribe said the ambassador met with Mr. Penn to discuss the bilateral agenda. "There have also been meetings with the advisers to the campaigns of Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain, he said."
The Obama campaign denied any meetings took place.
(Does this sound eerily familiar to how the NAFTA GATE saga unfolded? Who is this unsourced "spokesperson" that said Obama met with Colombia? If the "spokesperson" lied, who asked him to lie?
I'm an Obama supporter and I'm just wondering what the Clintons are up to this time?

It could well be correct; there is nothing wrong with it either just there was nothing wrong with their dealings with the Clinton campaign (so far as we know, eh?)
Colombia goes to Clinton, Obama and McCain, asks "hey how about this here trade thingy if you become president?" Clinton and Obama campaigns say "no thanks" and McCain mumbles something about "going to get turpentine from the cit-eah."
The problem was that, oops, Mr. Clinton Campaign Strategist is actually being paid to push this trade agenda through Congress. That was the brouhaha.

Also, I thought I read in an early report that a reporter actually pursued the Obama angle further and the Embassy spokeswoman actually checked calendars to affirm that no one had to her knowledge , interacted with the Obama camp.
If I can find that story, I will set-up a link to it.

I think this is it, also WSJ:
"A spokesman for Sen. McCain, the likely Republican presidential nominee, said a team of policy advisers met recently with 20 Latin American ambassadors, including Colombia's. An Obama spokesman and the Colombian Embassy spokeswoman both said the Colombian ambassador had never met with an Obama representative."

Thanks for posting the link, tpartier. The author of the article said that a spokesman from Colombia claimed that they had meetings with Obama, and a few paragraphs down, the author says that a spokeswoman says they didn't.
It's ambiguous.
