As detestable as Bybee/Yoo may be we have only ourselves to blame in the end if we continue to allow these people to act on our behalf. Demand congressional oversight and action.
While this "Patriot Torture Blueprint" has been denounced and rescinded its creators have not. Eventually the political pendulum will swing back and I wonder where these moral cretins will turn up again. Will it be the second coming of Rumsfeld and Cheney? Perhaps one of professor Yoo's pupils will grace us ala Leo Strauss-Wolfowitz in the not too distant future.

I wish to pick nits with you. We have a representative form of government, it is only after someone in our government makes plain their position, that we are then abidingly to blame for what they've done. If the government that is in place at the time then foils us, it is their fault. If we then fail to throw them out as well, then it is the fault of the majority that didn't vote against these schmucks.

I would agree with your statement. They have now made their position clear. The question is how and to what extent are they made accountable for these actions that were performed under the auspices of an oath to represent our better interest.
Do we simply throw the "schmuck's out" and let them slither back into the corporate board rooms, academic faculties, and lobbyist think-tanks of Washington's orbit, only to see them re-emerge in the future as a rebranded nationalist ideology?
I'm concerned the present attention span of this country won't allow the "due process" that these monkeys deserve (and that they perverted to deny others).
The irony is that they would assume to make the rest of the world as the United States by denying them the basic principles of the constitution and bill rights. Universal truths do not end at the borders of this nation.
If you don't agree with me pick up a history book.
