SHUT THE BLACK MAN UP

Did anybody listen to Rev. Wright for the past few days?

Did they hear "Different is not Deficient", and "Reconciliation as the pillar of his ministry"?

Why are we letting them keep twisting what this man is about, and what he said?

And by the way, did anybody notice what Rev. Wright was announcing at the press club speech?

The two-day symposium on the black church, and the fact that all UCC denominations (all 5000 and some of them), along with a whole lot of other churches, will begin a dialogue on race, religion, with a focus on the black church, over the next few weeks.

I wonder how that will play out.

I know a lot of the media doesn't go to church, but the viewers will be informed, and maybe they'll be held accountable at some point.

What Rev. Wright is about, and has been about all his adult life, is psychologically separating blacks from their fellow American citizens. The Trinity United Church Of Christ exists for this purpose. This is clear from Wright's sermons, his church bulletin newsletters, his Trumpet magazine articles and interviews, and the TUCC website.

It is OVER for Rev Wright in terms of rehabilitating
his image to the American people. Obama has no choice. He denounces Wright and cuts ALL ties to this church, or his candidacy goes down in flames.

Are you listening to Wright, or are you listening to the pundits talk about Wright?

Wright is about helping the poor. And letting people know that they needn't be ashamed of their heritage.

I watched Wright shouting over and over again `Barack HUSSEIN Obama` - and he did it knowing full well that it would be that, out of context, that would play again and again on prime time and Youtube.
I watched Wright elevating Farrakhan yet again, knowing or at least hoping that that too would play interminably.
I concluded instantly, how could I not? that this man does not want Obama to win the nomination.
Wright is helping the poor? Tell me just how having his church use ordinary people's donations to build him a mansion in the middle of a white gated community along with a credit card of millions any sign of commitment to the poor?
Ghandi this man is not. Unfortunately. Uncle Tom, more like.

HICKS AND GOOBERS THINK WRIGHT MEANS GOOD

"He's funnier than Red Foxx"
Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.

HOPE CHANGE does not mean Wright get's more than 15 minutes.

I saw the last half hour of his Detroit speech and all of what he did today in Washington. Left wingers like yourselves are out of touch. It is over for Wright. He is clearly obsessed with race and obsessed with keeping black and white Americans living in different worlds. I have looked at all of the information from the website, and the available sermons, church bulletins and magazine interviews. Wright is going to be finally and for all time perceived as anti-American by the majority in this country. He will be perceived as anti-white by an almost equal majority. How the hell do you people plan to get Obama elected with this albatross around his neck? It is insanity.

avatar

After having seen Wright for extended periods now, it is clear that this man is SOAKED in racial grievance, living in the past to an unhealthy degree, and despises his own country. He shouldn't be allowed within 1,000,000 miles of Barack Obama's campaign.

how much was it Wright and how much was it pundits speaking about Wright?

maybe the TV DOES control your brain. it doesn't control most of us.

You obviously did not listen to Wright's remarks to the Detroit NAACP fund raising dinner last night because what you posted is a complete load of crap.

If you really believe that Wright "is psychologically separating blacks from their fellow American citizens" take a look at this interview of a Catholic priest by a pissant FOX news report on the subject.

http://www.expatriateruminations.com/Blog/2008/04/17/fox-reporter-interviews-chicago-priest/

Also, no air time on his criticism of the media.

But "Different is not Deficient" is deficient if the difference goes against ones beliefs. This form of secularism is an attempt to take away free thought by having all of us accepting of all viewpoints. "Different is not Deficient" philosophy could force a neighborhood to accept predators as residents. The child abuser is simply "Different, not Deficient". The Gang Banger is "Different, not Deficient". This thought process forces the abolishment the individual rights and thoughts.

you're retarded.

in your head, black=different=criminal, and that shouldn't be allowed

no sane mind would think Rev. Wright legitimized any sin or crime.

I have listened. I have lived a life and been places that someone like you will hopefully never have to experience. Wright speeches and arguments are no different today than what I heard in the streets and churches in Biloxi, Di'Iberville, Holma, and New Orleans. Here is my message to you: If one continues to live a life as a victim one will never progress. Slavery, in the US, is over except in the mind. Grow up and move on.

Hey, isn't this what Obama said about Wright?

You really ought to listen to one of his speeches of the lat couple of days. You would then realize to what he was referring.

Your suggestion that he was referring in anyway to the sociopathic examples you cite is really, really ridiculous.

Is the FLDS different, deficient or both?

Different, deficient, downright diseased. Another reason to avoid Texas (and Utah).

I see both sides of this. After watching Wright's speeches both at the NAACP and the National Press Club in their entirety, I see the good in what Wright is TRYING to do. His overall message is an important one for America to hear and speaks at heart to the concepts of reconciliation, respecting difference and in the end, healing. However, there is this small nasty entity in America, called media. And the media represents the power structure/status quo. And when you have a candidate who is opposing the status quo in many of his basic concepts (by opposing war, by opposing the rich, by opposing big Oil), that status quo will employ it's media to twist anyone or anything connected to Obama, in an effort to derail his candidacy. This is the real danger in Wright speaking out at this particular time.

It's not really about what Wright actually meant, for the media, its about which of his words can be isolated and used as a trigger to manipulate the majority of Americans who are not going to take the time to sit down and listen to him speak for an hour. The media is building a case of "guilt by association."

But it's not really about Wright at all. The country singer Willie Nelson has repeatedly questioned whether 9/11 was an inside job. Yet, he is not being demonized for it. In fact, he is being celebrated with a huge new anniversary box set of all of his recordings. So there is quite a double standard at work here.

There real question here is, will the American people allow themselves to be manipulated out of the possibility of electing the most seriously transformative presidential candidate of the past 100 years? Or will we allow ourselves to be duped again by the media at a critical time?

My strongest sense is that the result of the latter option would be utterly disastrous.

Obama 08

The effect of Wright's media blitz is to knee cap Obama.

Wright is a very intelligent man, he has to know he is causing Obama harm.

Judge his actions and the damage they cause and quit blaming the media.

A smart man knows when to talk and when not to talk.

He has helped McCain and Clinton more than anyone except himself, who he is helping financially.

Why does a man of God need a multi million dollar home paid for out of tythes?

the home belongs to the church. he lives in it. the next pastor will live in it.

IF

Rev. Wright had not gone to speak to the media,

the media would be chasing him everywhere he went.

His words were going to be taken and spun anyway.

He did all he could to take the message in his own hands.

A lot of people saw his actual message. And are getting disgusted by the media.

How the hell do you people

YOU people is really classy!

I don't blame Rev. Wright for defending himself.

All you haters who call themselves Patriots...why don't you join the Marines like Rev. Wright did?

I found it interesting that the pundits seemed to have more of a problem with how Wright delivered his comments than in many ways what was said.

On MSNBC -- which devoted most of its coverage today to the non-stop wall-to-wall carpet bombing of Wright snippets -- pundits said he was not showing enough "humility." At the National Press Club. That he wasn't "apologetic" enough. At the National Press Club. That he was "arrogant" and "full of himself" and "promoting himself" and making this all about him. At the National Press Club. To which he was invited to speak. He didn't just show up and commandeer the microphone.

And sadly, not even the moderator at the event bothered to prepare by listening to any of his "offensive" sermons. And the questions from so-called learned members of the press were not just insipid, but bordering on offensive. Are you patriotic? Indeed.

Uh-oh... I'm getting angry again. Watch out! Angry Black Woman on board!

That's what Wright said in his speech this morning

he was mocking them for calling him "bombastic"

he called them for not doing their research.

I guess they took offense.

You are right. The MSM is bent out of shape because he did not bow to the pressure. He is a proud man and they can't turn him into Toby. Wright is a real American Hero. he had every right to defend his reputation and those who can't distinguish between him and Barack have the problem. America a t large are shocked to learn who this man really is and they can't handle it. He does not fit into their preconceived ideas. He has disrupted their world that they thought they all figured out. You say you want truth and wright gave you truth. another blogger wrote:"America ended both the race war and the class war by simply denying that they're there." I say they don't like the reflection in the mirror.

Rachel Maddow on Countdown makes the point that

McCain and Hagee made a POLITICAL association

which might have SECURITY IMPLICATIONS for this country

since he said THIS COUNTRY WAS FOUNDED IN PART TO DESTROY ISLAM

whereas Obama's association is purely religious

Obama disavowed Wright's political views

avatar

"whereas Obama's association is purely religious"

Total nonsense. The TUCC controversy is about racial separatism and anti-Americanism, not religion.

uh-oh

we have a cookoo in the house.

seriously, you're seriously "different"

WTF is "racial separatism"

And everybody agrees Wright can not be coined to be Anti-American, neither can his church.

avatar

I don't know any real liberal who uses stupid wingnut catchphrases like "ultra liberal".

avatar

Jade- of course they had a problem. Wright scored a direct hit on THEM- the "stuck on stupid" MSM. He treated them with the contempt they deserve.

avatar

Sorry, that comment landed in the wrong thread by mistake.

Not an argument worth having right now. We need to win. Obama in the White House does more for the cause of the underclass and liberating the oppressed than some pained parsing through Reverend Wright's teachings to find the many good things to hold up to the light.

Let's not have this argument now. Freaking out about Wright either way just prolongs the media frenzy. He should modulate, for now, and the MSM should. The message should be, so what, enough all ready. That's Barack's message on this. The blogosphere would do well to help Barack move on.

It's not January. It's not November.

The nomination is his.

This is a good time.

avatar

"The nomination is his.

This is a good time."

Obama absolutely could still lose the nomination.

let's agree to disagree on that one.

You're right on the nomination.

I see your point, but think there will be better teaching moments after we win than while the media are writing their cliches through which the next six months will be viewed.

no, WE take the story back NOW

they will make it as bad as they want to if Wright says nothing.

check back on Sunday. they'll still be talking about how Wright is affecting his poll numbers, but you'll see different opinions on Wright and a lot more acceptance.

the media is pissed right now that he had the gall to stand up to them.

but, this too shall pass. and remember the controversies in February and March?

remember Rezko and NAFTA and Penn and African garb and all the nonsense we were told was going to define him as a candidate?

we're winning, and we should continue to control the narrative. you don't do that by staying silent.

Wright will control his narrative. Barack will do the same from himself. They'll make a clearer separation on specific issues. People will learn about Barack all along the way.

If you haven't bothered to watch the Moyers interview, the NAACP speech and the National Press Club Speech, then your comments must be based on sound bites. I recommend you listen to those who took the opportunity to watch Rev. Wright in full context. If you insist there's no need, then your evaluation cannot be taken seriously. That being said, this controversy could be what costs Barack the nomination, but I cannot blame Rev. Wright for defending his church and himself. The dialog everyone needs to have has begun.
