Robert Johnson esq: Will Pimp for Food
Former BET CEO Robert Johnson is a very weathy man. Stepin Fetchit and Bo Jangles were wealthy as well. Paul Roberson was a comparable pauper. Stepin and Bo accepted their roles and gained monetarily. Roberson complained about the staus quo and was punished.
Johnson, who made money depicting the thug and drug culture as glamourous, while demeaning African-American women is a Clinton cultural icon. The Clintons can be proud of their good friend.
Prior to Johnson and Maggie Williams, African-American Democrats could point to Ward Connerly, Lee Elder, Armstrong Williams et al. as examples of how Black Democratic activists differed from Black Republican activists. You will never see Black Conservatives rushing to the cameras to attack someone like Kentucky Rep Geoff Davis for calling Obama "boy". They will also remain silent when other White Conservatives made racially charged statements. But they will appear in droves to attack Obama.
Black Democrats tended to speak truth to power. Bill Clinton was challenged on his Sistah Souljah statement when he began his first campaign. Black Congressmen who do not speak out or are too close to the GOP are replaced. Note the recent departure of MD Democratic Rep Al Wynn.
The Clintons have made us aware that just like there are Steppin Fetchit Republicans, there are Stephin Fetchit Democrats. Both groups of political comedians are free to speak their minds. That is the American way.
Pimp hustler Johnson is free to state that he agrees with Geraldine Ferraro. I am free to say that I disagree with both Johnson and Ferraro.
I will think of Johnson when I think of Hillary Clinton.
A sad truth is that the Supreme Court has done major damage to Affirmative Action. Ward Connerly is pressing forward with a state by state attack. The African-American community will respond by adapting. The focus will be on state college admissions based on position in the high scholol graduating class for all high schools in a given area. The SCOTUS becomes less of an issue.
I just cannot vote for Hillary Clinton. I began this campaign season with Hillary as my choice.
She has disappointed me on too many occasions. I will vote for Congressional and state seats. I will write in Obama, if Hillary is the nominee. I see nothing in her campaign to suggest a President that would make me proud.

It's Paul Robeson.
"Sources" tell me that Hillary is tattooing a fork on her back.
because she's done.

Thank you for reminding us of that immensely talented singer Paul Robeson.
A little known detail about his signature song, "Old Man River": The most commonly sung version included the line, "Get a little drunk and you land in jail." The original -- expurgated in a sad bow to white stereotypes, I suppose, but which I am told Robeson often would revert to in performance -- was "Show a little grit, and you land in jail..."

All accross this nation there are public grade schools named after Robeson but rarely do they teach about him.

Excellent post.
Bob Johnson is a pure amoral savage. He's a black plantation and slave owner in the 1800s. Every dollar of his has the blood and tears of those he's exploited and corrupted. The fact he's Hillary's ace boon coon says it all.
I cannot accept that HRC would actually do anything that she says she will as POTUS since she lies about everything else. In addition to that, her dedication to symbolic rather than substantive racial equality coupled with her racial political maneuvering in this campaign season tells me David Duke would be a more honest selection. The supposedly more rational amongst us claim Hillary is far better than McCain in her positions and the SCOTUS appointments are the big prize we don't want to lose out on. Who has evidence that she's a woman of her word? I haven't seen any of it.

I guess I have a chip on my brown skinned shoulder over her racially divisive tactics. But I really don't get the impassioned pleas to be "reasonable" and vote Hililary if she's the nominee. She and her husband were/are depublicans at best but all I hear is this bullshit about how her positions on things are virtually the same as Obama's. Even if I believed that (Iraq wasn't a mistake? smh)can anyone name one way in which she's proved herself trustworthy to stick to those positions? Or how any of those positions would even make a difference after she reunites America against her and for the Republican party like she and Bill did after the Healthcare Reform fiasco?
On the one hand she's an insidious liar and on the other she's a republican political jihad in a box. Oh yeah Im sooooooooo sold on voting for her.

I said this yesterday when someone was touting Johnson's statements - with what I know about BET, I wouldn't be talking trash if I were Johnson.
