Republican vice presidential candidates
I just want to throw this out there. Several years ago when Sen. Norm Coleman was running for governor of Minnesota, Dick Cheney visited him and Tim Pawlenty, the current governor who was then running for the senate against Paul Wellstone. After the visit, there was aquick change and Coleman ran for the senate and Pawlenty ran for governor. I find it interesting that the unknown Pawlenty is a front runner for VP. I have always wondered why the switch and what did Cheney promise that would make Pawlenty change his mind. One of the things Pawlenty, a supposed moderate, has done is stick to an absolute no new taxes stance. Even vetoing some of his pet projects. Something strange seems to be afoot and I can't quite put my finger on it, but I would venture to guess that Pawlenty will be on the ticket in Nov.

Isn't he the guy who denied funds for highways and bridges, then I-35 collapsed? I wonder what his approval ratings are?

Depressingly high - over 50%, if memory serves.
Why? Beats me. He's a jerk, he just nuked a lot of bonding proposals for St. Paul (a hilarious LTE in the Pioneer Press suggested sending a team of City inspectors into the gov's mansion and completely rebuilding the surface of Summit Ave. out front - just, you know, to make sure everything's OK for Timmeh) and outright admitted to threatening a legislator's area with the line item veto the MN gov has.
He likes hockey - it's the only thing I can think of.
Maybe he and Slimy Norman will take the same small plane some time soon, or is that too much to hope for?
