Random thoughts on Election
I think what we're seeing in PA, NH, Almost MO, CA, is an electorate that was sold for almost a year the "fact" that the inevitable nominee was going to be Mrs. Clinton. The people in the D field that were receptive to the Clintons saving the day, quickly became hopefuls and/or faithful as more of the Bush Poopstorm ensued. Cross this with the women who want to tell their grandchildren that they voted for the first woman President who were elated at the idea that as the republic party imploded, she would have a relative cakewalk to PA ave.
These people were fed their reality by the media and now can have their attitudes shaped by it as well.
As the primary process has WORN on, those that had become elated with the presumtiveness of the deal, had to try and absorb reality's new song as it unfolded in IA in January. They wanted Mrs. Clinton to pull a "John Kerry" on this upstart the way they did with Mr. Dean. This, of course is not what happened. We now see these populations not paying attention fully because of the length of the whole damn process in addition to busy lives. These people are only paying attention to the gossipy items that the media sheds off, and do not want to think about a discussion dealing with more complicated or nuanced policy items.
The trouble for the media here is that they are loosing their influence, and they want young people back, damnit! They like American Idol dont they??? Doesn't Simon giving a scrawny dude with big ears a flame-bath on the Idol show poll really high with our targeted demographix?
Charlie, George and the whole alphabet channel crew decide they're going to "Simon" the scrawny candidate with big ears at their "debate" so that the whatever percentage who like that on TV will feel right at home. The others that watch the nets are more conservative and like the overall republic-party-talking-points as debate format that our discourse has become. The rest of us catch media stuff online now and so those nets dont really care how much heat they take from our populace, because the Idol crowd are supposedly "loyal viewers", and thats what the media wants.
More coming soon...
