Old people and white working class voters don't count, according to Obama?
Two great lines coming out of the Obama camp as they desperately try to spin last night's crushing PA defeat.
1) We don't have a problem with white working class voters, it's just that old people have a problem
"If you look at the numbers, in fact, our problem has less to do with white working class voters. In fact, the problem is that, to the extent there is a problem, is that the older voters are very loyal to Senator Clinton " - Obama here
Upon making the admission that they do have a problem with white working class voters:
2) White working class voters don't matter
"The white working class has gone to the Republican nominee for many elections, going back even to the Clinton years," - Axelrod here
So taken together, neither white working class voters nor old people are important to a Democrat win this year, according to Obama's gameplan. A little more risky than a
purported big state strategy, don't you think?

Ooooh, I'm going to have to add these to my "You might be an idiot..." list.
Well done!

Of course you leave out where he says they will be working harder at bringing these voters into their camp. But hey your just use to the Clinton's saying things like this expect they don't include that part about trying harder to win over the voters.

You're spinning harder than they are here, Foreigner.

What is it with you people that makes you feel like everytime someone says something that's factaully true it must be a gaffe and a mortal insult to someone? Are you saying old people haven't been very loyal to Hillary? Or maybe you disagree that the with working class has gone Republican since the Reagan Administration?
Or is it just the sound of somebody associated with a campaign making simple declarations of fact that are actually, well, true that you find so alarming? I know you don't get much of that in Hillaryland, so it must be shocking.

I don't agree with a lot of your opinions but I haven't previously doubted your sincerity but this one is a big huge giant stretch that requires you to really see something that you want to see.
Next you're going to say that Obama has WMDs because he can't prove that he doesn't have any.

I don't think Foreigner is seriously making this claim as much as he is comparing it to similar claims made by Obama supporters when the Clinton camp says things about caucuses or red states or latte-sippers or prius-drivers or birkenstock-wearers or bearded men (that one really stung) or …
Foreigner: correct me if I'm wrong here and you really are claiming that Obama's claiming they don't count.

You got it in one! It's of course completely ridiculous, as are so many of the bizarro claims other people have convinced themselves of with Clinton.
I know that the people who've commented above *can* distil fact from fiction. I just wish they'd at least try to apply their formidable comprehension skills a little more even-handedly! :-)

Fair enough! I'll certainly agree that many of those types fall into "silly season" on both sides. I'm happy that I can go back to just respectfully disagreeing with you.

How is saying that older voters are loyal to Clinton anything remotely close to saying that they "don't count" or that they're not "important to a Democrat win this year"? In fact, he stressed the importance of reaching out to them (and the working class). Snark point: 0
I'll grant you that with the working class voters, Axelrod was downplaying their importance in that statement you quoted, and although that's not the same as saying they "don't count", when that kind of thing comes out of the Clinton camp, many of us are quick to make similar claims. Snark point: 1

The only other point I'd add is that so often when one of Hillary's campaign staff, or surrogate, or supporter, or someone who once shook hands with her, says something slightly (or very) controversial, it's proof of a dastardly Machiavellian Hillary Plot. But people are very happy to dissociate Obama himself from the actions/statements of his campaign staff or surrogates, even when it's the architect of his whole campaign (cf Axelrod above ;-)

Because you buffenbargered the statements.

Well, naturally. Surely you can't expect the Apostles to live up to standards of the Messiah, can you? When one of those with him cut off the ear of those sent to arrest Jesus, did it reflect poorly on Jesus? ;)

Ed Rendell said that white people won't vote for a black man. That they wouldn't from the state of Pennsylvania. Did you agree with that uncomfortable statement?
Aren't you tired of being reactionary?
The country is wiped out. Give peace a chance.

Booo - you lose.
Ed Rendell said that some people wouldn't vote for a black candidate, and in his next sentence said that some people wouldn't vote for a female candidate.
To steal a good line from NCSteve, who generally has a very different perspective to me:
"What is it with you people that makes you feel like everytime someone says something that's factaully true it must be a gaffe and a mortal insult to someone?"

O.
That makes it better. There are some that won't vote for a black or a woman.

He should have said: screw 'em!
Then Hill's camp would have nothing to complain about.
