Obama to appear on Meet The Press for the full hour Sunday.
Obama is going to appear on NBC's Meet The Press for the full hour this Sunday. To my mind, this is a good idea: much of the problem with the Wright issue is that the pundits keep on hashing and re-hashing it. When you talk direct to the pundits it tends to tamp that down just a little. Hopefully this Sunday will be a 'till-they-drop' exhaustion of the issue. Obama tends to do well in these high-profile one-on-one interviews, too.
Also, this may be heresy, but of all the Sunday Shows, and of all the pundits out there, I still have respect for Tim Russert (SHOCK HORROR! Respect for someone in the MSM!) ...My basis for this is that he at least tends to ask pertinent and relevant questions, and can sort the bullshit from the fact. Plus his questioning style of always referring to quotations gives him a (hilarious) aura of being almost manically devoted to "truth", which I suppose is at least better than the wild pontificating of ABC/Fox, et al.

He's has to know that Timmy, the master of 'beltway gotcha', is going to focus on tripping him up with crap. Well, I guess that if Daniel could walk into the lion's den and come back out alive...

Well, he did survive Fox. And he got one voter that I know of in NC because of that appearance.

Thanks for the tip--I'll be watching. But please stop admiring Tim Russert, OK?
"You know, Tim, you used to be such a rabid Democrat when you worked for Pat Moynihan," said the executive. "But now that you’ve gotten a glimpse of who's handing out the money in this business, you've become quite the Jaycee. Were you wrong about everything you used to believe so strongly?"
"I still believe," Russert said, leaning across the table. "I believe in everything I ever did. But I also know that I never would have become moderator on Meet The Press if my employers were uncomfortable with me. And, given the amount of money at stake, millions of dollars, I don’t blame them. This is business."
The executive agreed. "But are you concerned about losing yourself? You know, selling out?"
Russert pounded the table. "Integrity is for paupers!"

Yep. He has no choice but to run the Gauntlet now. I think he'll be fine...

God, I hope Tim doesn't ask him about Avers again...
I have no love for Tim, he exemplifies the worse aspects of our media-driven political landscape: gotcha minutia trumping actual issues of importance.

Agreed on your comment about Russert.
I actually just wanted to tell you how much I love your bunny ears photo! Too cute.

Thanks. That's my cat, Cedric. He picked those ears out himself.

If Obama can't handle Tim Russert, then I'll be forced to say, "I don't know him as well as I thought I did."

Good. This beats the hell out of another debate.

Tim's intense and a bit full of himself. But Obama's no doubt out to prove to the world he can take it on the chin without putting up with Hillary's BS. She postures, of course, that a one-on-one debate with her is Obama's ONLY way to take it on the chin. His Fox and Russert interviews seem like great ways for him to respond: Not so.

I guess you didn't see the TPM TV episode the other day that Josh discussed here. Russert then asserted McCain was ahead or tied against both Democrats in national polls, when the opposite is more accurate.
Also recall that he said, under oath, at the Scooter Libby trial that he assumes any conversations he has with government officials are "off the record" unless there is explicit agreement otherwise.
Russert is not as inane in his questioning as, say, Stephanopoulos and Gibson were at the Philadelphia debate, but I'd hardly hold him up as a paragon of truth seeking.

A full hour on the Obama Network, let the suck fest begin. Barack's ass will be so sore from Russert kissing so much I hope he gives Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, David Shuster, Brian Williams, and Rachel Maddow a chance so his lips don't go numb. Because NBC, and MSNBC has been nothing but a joke, they are as "Fair and Balanced" as Fox. They are the far left version of Fox, Obama is their chosen one, as Bush is to Fox. They will not question why it took 5 days to hear what his Rev. had to say, to distance, and then cut off the Rev. Wright to say he does not know me. Well I think after being with you for 20 years, and you writing in your books about him, the 2 of you know each other very well. So Barack just for once in your political life come out and tell the truth. Most people that don't have Barack blinders on know we will hear nothing new at the suck fest this Sunday. Mr. Potato Head will interview Sen. Obama an say how great he made him feel, same thing he said about George W Bush in 2001 so you know how much stock you can put in what he has to say. So pin heads unite you leader will uplift you with his words, and if a Politician can do that to you who needs substance, simple minds will do.
